Goodform Gameplan: Ballarat Sat 23rd January

As predicted there’s been a strong move for KRAFTY BART (11) so there’s a legitimate temptation to have something straight out on MAJOR JODI (10) but we’ll stick to the plan and just play a small exotic to launch our night. 

SUGGESTED BET: 

Flexi Trifecta: 10,11/ 9,10,11/ 1,4,5,7,9,10,11 ($20 gets 100%)

Again, I’m not overly bullish about anything here other than the fact that one of C K SPUR (6) or IM READY JET (10) will win. Early Quads are a much bigger play for us through the first two events but we’ll have a pretty aggressive pair of Tricks here and hope one of the two big guns doesn’t make an error.

Flexi Trifecta: 6,10/ 4,7/ 6,10: $4 gets 100% 

This is one of the toughest races all night, if not the toughest, but if you want to back one horse that is horse is clearly DELIGHTFUL JAZZ (8). Often when you predict races will be run at a frenetic tempo the opposite occurs but this event has fireworks written all over it and if the pace is real she’s the one to beat and $2.80 is actually good enough. 

SUGGESTED BET: 

$20 Win on DELIGHTFUL JAZZ (8) at $2.50 or better 

We’re in the swing of punting tonight so while this isn’t a great punting race on paper we’ll have a little go. CARLAS MACH (2) will win all things being equal and ERROR (6) should almost certainly run first or second. Then you find the other podium position and hopefully a small profit ensues.

Flexi Trifecta: 2/ 7,8/ 6: $5 gets 250% 

I just can’t see having a decent go here. I sense MIRAKURU (5) has been the big winner from Kowalski Analysis’ scratching but $3.10 isn’t enough for me to get excited.

Rightio; here we go. This is the time to open our shoulders. RED HOT TOOTH (5) is clearly the one here. I’m hoping she doesn’t need to labour too hard and she shouldn’t. but even if she does she’s so good in front and there’s so little pressure I can’t see how she won’t win.

Early in the week I Tweeted that SOMEBEACHSHADOW (4) and MISTER WICKHAM (7) were the big overs here. The former horse remains at incredible overs, the latter has more than halved his quote. They are still the way to play.

$10 Each Way MISTER WICKHAM (7) at $12 or better

Tonight’s feature is all about the fave but we’ll have a little trick just to create a touch of excitement.

Normally when you find a short-priced fave you’re very bullish about you’re desperate to play exotics. I’m not desperate here but we’ll still play with PRESTIGE STRIDE (2) to dominate a peg-dominated affair

I reckon BOOTS ELECTRIC (3) as the one here if they go as ballistic as I predict. $2.80 isn’t amazing value but if we’re travelling on the punt he’s worth an investment.
