Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) has provided an update on star Victorian pacer Lochinvar Art as he strives for a place in the Miracle Mile.

The David Moran-trained entire was scratched from last Friday night’s Group 1 Newcastle Mile owing to injury and must now trial satisfactorily and pass further veterinarian checks before being considered for a wildcard entry into Australia’s richest race.

HRNSW published a media statement following Tuesday’s inspection of the horse by regulatory veterinarian Dr Martin Wainscott and stewards.

“On inspection, Lochinvar Art was found to be displaying lameness in the off fore leg consistent with the reported incident and reasons for scratching,” it read.

“Trainer Mr David Moran reported that Lochinvar Art has been responding well to treatment and he will provide the horse with light work in the coming days to ensure its suitability to perform an open workout at Tabcorp Menangle on Saturday 27 February 2021.

“HRNSW stewards will follow up with Mr Moran on Friday 26 February 2021 and obtain a follow up report.”
