OVERVIEW: It’s in races like these where the preferential barrier system really comes to the fore. Basically, what we have here are a group of handy horses who are struggling to break through with very tidy draws and a couple of future stars deep on the back row who will genuinely need to work for the money. Despite their disadvantageous alleys we’re sticking with the budding guns here in STAR OF MEMPHIS (13) and WARDAN EXPRESS (11). STAR OF MEMPHIS (13) possesses both speed and strength and while he’s still a solid rung below Victoria’s proper top-liners this is a race where he can work through the middle stages and still come out on top while WARDAN EXPRESS (11) has been a revelation this campaign and gets his chance tonight to prove he can be as effective over middle trips as a he is in his favoured short course affairs. The two horses most likely to cause a mini-upset here are ANIMATED (10) and HOLDONSU (2) who are both seasoned at this level though ELROY JETSON (6) also creates interest first up from a break.
