OVERVIEW: It honestly would not be going too far to suggest that this ID Trotting heat is good enough to symbolise what we’re hoping the final of this series will look line in 11 days’ time. The critical questions which must be answered tonight is will SAVE OUR PENNYS (2) lead and hold the front over 1710m? Will he hand up to Speeding Spur? Or will they both be bombed by TORNADO VALLEY (7). There’s something about the arrogance with which TORNADO VALLEY (7) won his opening heat of this series on the weekend which makes you believe that everybody would be happy trailing him in transit. For that reason we’re leaning to the concept that TORNADO VALLEY (7) finds the top and upsets favourite SPEEDING SPUR (5) by leading all the way. That fellow’s greatest threat both here and in the series as a whole is SPEEDING SPUR (5) and if the latter can lead and dictate as many expect then the rest are racing for second placing tonight. After his huge night one performance SAVE OUR PPENNYS (2) is a near-lock to join the two big guns on the podium here but TOUGH MONARCH (10) would have lost few supporters with his giant death seat effort on Saturday night.
