Ryan Phelan has outlined his selections and suggested game plan for tonight's 8-race card at Swan Hill.

R1 – 6:00pm – Heidi George Mares Classic (2nd heat) - 1750m

5 – Kyloan Queen

9 – Written In Silk

11 – Chirripo

8 – Ruby Wingate

Kyloan Queen is a very quick beginner and has been racing quite well the past month. She's come up very big odds here for a horse I think is likely to find the front over the short trip so is worth a speck at terrific value.

BACK: 5 Kyloan Queen – .5 Unit (win) / .5 Unit (place)

R2 – 6:28pm – Skyvalley @ Aldebaran Park Pace – 2240m

9 – Hot Rocks

10 – Marlo Mareau

7 - Gemaedde

4 – Byrnside Boom

Hot Rocks gets a nice set up here, meeting a field of largely younger horses that may struggle to match the times he’s capable of. Has a nice trailing draw to not be too far off them, and trainer/driver Aaron Dunn has a strong winning strike rate.

BACK: 9 Hot Rocks – 2 Units (win)

R3 – 6:59pm – Lather Up @ Woodlands Stud Pace – 2240m

7 – Blake Bolac

9 – Hugo Rocks

8 – Maxy Wants To Play

2 - Credulous

This is a high-quality race for this class. You can make a case for more than half the field here with several runners dropping back from tougher races at Melton. Despite the bad draw I’m willing to take the risk with Blake Bolac. He’s absolutely flying without winning, can run time, and if he can roll to the front is the one to beat.

BACK: 7 Blake Bolac – 3 Units (win)

R4 – 7:33pm – Pastor Stephen @ Llowalong Farms Pace – 1750m

1 – Good Day

3 – Neatntidy

7 – Marty The Martian

8 – Bruised Ego

Good Day has been pretty consistent this campaign and gets a suitable race to get back in the winners circle. His last win was four back when able to lead all the way from the same draw. Kerryn Manning gets on board is a plus also.

BACK: 1 Good Day – 1 Unit (win)

R5 – 8:10pm – Vincent @ Alabar Pace – 2240m

5 – Pete Mitchell

9  Kitsune

2 – Foregone Conclusion

8 – Monsieur Flamel

R6 – 8:41pm – Imperial Count @ Bellmoure Park Stud Pace – 2240m

5 – Dallas Charlie

3 – Mynameisruby

8 – Terroroan

2 – Noble Julia

Dallas Charlie represents good value in this line up. He was a strong winner three back when able to lead all the way from a similar draw. He was going to be in the finish last start before being heavily checked at a vital stage. If he can find the top he’s the one to run down.

BACK: 5 Dallas Charlie – 2 Units (win)

R7 – 9:15pm – Kvintet Avenger @ Truscott Lodge Pace – 1750m

9 – Ronzel Sonny

4 – Swiss Lightning

6 – Beau Bronski

5 – Chalkncheddar

R8 – 9:49pm – King Of The North @ Llowalong Farms Battlers In The Bush 4yo & Older Maiden Pace – 1750m

2 – Charlie Chops

7 – La Frank

9 – Kyrgios

8 – Saccharin

Tipping a first starter 6-year-old isn’t often a winning formula. However, Charlie Chops has won his past two trials at Shepparton and whilst they weren’t amazing he showed enough speed to take care of what appears on face value a moderate field.

BACK: 2 Charlie Chops – 1 Unit (win)

** A betting unit is typically a percentage of the total bankroll or the amount of money you are willing to risk on a particular bet – for example 1 unit is 10% of your bankroll, therefore with a $100 bankroll 1 unit equals $10.
