This week for The Guerin Effect our Kiwi form expert Michael Guerin takes a look at the trots from ALEXANDRA PARK ON FRIDAY NIGHT.

Best bet: The Lone Ranger (R2, No.6): Drops in grade and Ben Butcher a huge help in northern junior driver’s races. Manners weren’t the best last season but looks a more well-rounded pacer now.

Each way: The Almighty Johnson (R7, No.6): Drawn to get the most forward of the favourites, crucial over 1700m and placed twice at group two level over the summer. Bordeaux looks the main threat.
Draw beater: Cowboys N Indians (R4, No.8): Came from same bad draw to go down narrowly in stronger field last start and should be improved. Trainer Steven Reid is great form.

Best bet: Kendra (R7, No.6): Looked very good in hot northern juvenile races then returned home and beat some key rivals here at the workouts.

Down in grade: Tiger Thompson (R8, No.7): Third in group one Easter Cup last start and this is a huge drop. Has the gate speed to go forward.

Mobile help: Rum In The Sun (R3, No.12): Galloped from stand last start but two of three career wins have been from mobile. Well up to beating these.
