Craig Rail has earmaked Kimcando ahead of her return to racing at Cranbourne on Sunday.

"She is resuming since August at Cranbourne on Sunday and should run a big race if she can repeat her trial victory," Rail said.

Rail also added Rapid Return and Tuivasa to his file this week.

TRIAL REPORT 298

SHEPPARTON 02/01/25

Trial 1: - PERFECT STRIDE NZ raced without cover early before pushing forward to find the lead at the 1800m mark. He dominated the trial and was able to win untouched on his way to his effort in the Shepparton Cup on Saturday night. CATALPA RESCUE led out then took cover and chased hard for second. OURMATEMENKO NZ settled last of the four runners and by the time he came to the outside to circle around the tiring CARLY MORGAN, the leading duo were well clear. He found the line well for third.

Trial 2: - KIMCANDO began quickly and rolled forward to find the lead around the first turn. She ran along at a genuine tempo and dashed well clear over the concluding stages to win easily. MUSSEL SHOALS led out then took cover and tried hard for second with SAVOY BALLROOM being third after settling four back on the markers and moving into the death seat with a half mile remaining. The second placed MUSSEL SHOALS will be backing up at Shepparton tomorrow night.

Trial 4: - IKIGAI is a talented trotter, which is resuming at Shepparton on Saturday. She began quickly to find the lead and ran along a decent tempo. She raced well clear of her rivals and was able to win impressively in fast time. LISTEN TO THE HAND is a pacer and was taking on the trotters. He settled last of the four runners in the early stages, worked around to trail the leader at the 600m and battled on okay for second. BONNY JO settled three back on the inside, ended up being last on the markers with just over a lap remaining and was the third horse across the line.

Trial 1: - DEE ROE is racing in great form and kept the momentum rolling with an impressive trial victory. He settled three back on the markers, moved into the death seat with 1100m remaining and sustained a strong run to score. He is backing up in the Hamilton Cup on Sunday but is drawn poorly. LITTLE LOUIE trailed the leader early, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 500m mark and tried hard but couldn’t peg back DEE ROE in the run to the finish. The Aaron Dunn trained pair kicked well clear of the remainder of the field.

Trial 2: - TUBS NOW SLIM settled three back on the markers, moved through to trail the leader at the 1100m and waited for the sprint lane. He sprinted quickly in the home straight and was too good in the run to the finish. He is competing at Maryborough this afternoon. LOVE WHO finished in second after setting the speed. OFF YOUR FACESKI was third across the line after galloping at the start and settling last of the four runners. FAITH FULL trailed the leader early, moved into the death seat at the 1100m and broke stride with 500m remaining. He was last across the line. Despite making errors in the trial, OFF YOUR FACESKI and FAITH FULL will both be lining up at Maryborough this afternoon.

Trial 3: - RUFF NUT began smartly and was able to run to the lead shortly after the start. He dashed well clear over the concluding stages and scored easily, which is a good lead into his chances at Hamilton Sunday. REDBANK MOLLY settled three back on the markers, moved into the death seat at the 700m mark and battled into a distant second. She is competing at Cranbourne on Sunday. JILPANGAR ROSE was last of the three runners across the line after trailing the leader throughout.

BENDIGO 06/01/25

Trial 2: - LA FRANK made a winning debut for trainer Alex Ashwood back in November then was spelled. He showed good gate speed to find the lead and never looked like being beaten in an easy trial victory. He is resuming at Shepparton on Tuesday night. MIKI ORION settled three back on the markers and moved to the outside at the 700m mark. He battled on well for second with BARBS BLUE CHIP coming from last of the four runners to pick up third.

Trial 3: - TASTE IT is a former New South Wales trained pacer, which joins trainer Glenn Bull. She began quickly to find the front, set up a slow tempo and held her rivals safely at bay. She is competing at Maryborough this afternoon. HERE COMES LENNY was without cover early, restrained to be four back on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 600m and came out three horses wide on the home turn. He worked home well to finish in second. KALKADOON DREAMING trailed the leader, used the sprint lane and didn’t appear to have much room over the latter stages, finishing a close up third, seemingly with something in reserve. TERROROAN was poorly away and settled last early, ended up being six back on the markers and pulled hard before making a move at the half mile marker. Under the circumstances, he ran a creditable fourth. He backed up at Kilmore on Thursday night and finished unplaced.

Trial 6: - RAPID RETURN restrained at the start and settled five back on the markers. He moved to the outside with 500m remaining and sprinted sharply to win impressively. He must be considered as a winning chance at Shepparton tomorrow night based on that performance. MIDNIGHT EAGLE began quickly to lead, took cover and moved away from the markers on the home turn. He battled on well for a distant second and is also backing up at Shepparton on Tuesday night. WISH UPONA DREAM finished in third after setting the tempo and is competing in the Hamilton Trotters Cup on Sunday. BUSLIN BRODY (3 back markers) was fourth across the line.

Trial 7: - TRIPLE ROCK SAINT NZ was clearly the class runner of the field with his assessment of NR79 but he was still impressive in scoring. He settled last of the four runners, moved up without cover with 600m remaining and sprinted quickly in a last quarter of 27.8 seconds to win easily. BELLA DANZA began quickly to find the lead and battled on well but couldn’t repel the challenge of TRIPLE ROCK SAINT NZ. She is competing at Shepparton on Tuesday night. GOOD DAY finished in third after trailing the leader throughout.

TERANG 07/01

Trial 1: - SPIRIT OF PEARL settled three back on the markers, moved off the inside at the mile marker and found the lead with 1400m remaining. She set up a slow tempo and finished off in a slick final quarter of 28.2 seconds to win comfortably. KWICK SAND led out then took cover at the 1400m before waiting for the sprint lane. He held his own in the home straight and beat the remainder of the field by a large margin. KEAYANG KINGSTON trailed the leader early before ending up being three back on the markers. He finished in third with the Inter Dominion runner up KEAYANG CHUCKY being last of the four runners throughout but he went to the line hard held and never peeled to the outside at any stage. KEAYANG CHUCKY is the back marker in the Hamilton Trotters Cup on Sunday.

Trial 3: - KEAYANG LAVITA settled four back on the markers, moved into the death seat at the 1200m, broke stride with 800m remaining then recovered and continued to make ground before hitting the front in the shadows of the post. KEAYANG FRANCISCO settled three back on the markers, moved to the lead with 1400m remaining and was run down on the line. KEAYANG MOSCATO settled four back on the markers and moved out three horses wide on the home turn. He finished off well and worked into a close up third.

MELTON ENTERTAINMENT PARK 07/01/25

Trial 1: - SMOKEN ACE NZ began quickly to find the lead and set up a moderate tempo. He dashed home in an impressive last quarter of 26.7 seconds to win comfortably. KHANS CREED finished in second after trailing the leader throughout and FIRST DANCE NZ was last of the three runners for the duration but wasn’t beaten by far and sectionally, her run was still sound.

Trial 3: - BERATINI began quickly to lead, took cover at the 1800m and came to the outside with 300m remaining. He was able to get home best to win the day. TIMMY TURTLE NZ settled four back on the markers, waited for the sprint lane and finished off stylishly for a game second. He is returning from a spell at Melton this evening. ROCKY VALLEY began quickly and worked to the front at the 1800m. He set up a slow tempo and was run down in the final 150m.

Trial 4: - TUIVASA is an Emma Stewart trained colt, which created a good impression by leading throughout and winning untouched. He finished off in a slick final quarter of 28.3 seconds. CRAYONS TO PERFUME finished in second position after trailing the leader throughout and the New Zealand bred filly DAVOLAS LEGACY NZ was third on the markers for the duration and remained in third but a good distance of the winner.

BLACKBOOKER: - Tuivasa

Trial 5: - MACH DAN was headed off at the start by PERFECT CLASS then angled around to find the lead at the 1800m. He enjoyed a good run in the leading role but was able to slip home in a sensational last quarter of 25.9 seconds to get the job done. CATCH A WAVE has returned from his New Zealand campaign, where he finished third in the NZ FFA at his latest appearance. He settled last of the three runners, used the sprint lane and did extremely well to make ground in outstanding final fractions. PERFECT CLASS led out, took cover and finished last of the three runners but wasn’t beaten by a large margin.

Trial 7: - JUST PEDRO settled in sixth position, moved up without cover with a mile remaining and worked around the field to find the lead mid-race. He remained strong at the finish and scored nicely. CLARA ROCKS was five back on the markers early and ended up being in sixth when JUST PEDRO found the top with 1400m remaining. She finished off well for second with the trotter WATTS UP PARTYTIME producing a nice effort for third after being headed off early and moving into the one out and one back trail from three back on the markers in the back straight on the final occasion.

MILDURA 08/01/25

Trial 1: - LETSGO BIG GIRL began well to trail the leader, came to the outside with 500m remaining and finished off best to win the prize. LOSEASHOE battled on gamely after setting up a genuine tempo in the lead. CALF PEN NZ was four back on the inside, came away from the pegs at the 600m and was forced out three horses wide approaching the home turn. He boxed on nicely in the straight to finish in third position.

Trial 4: - NOBLE TRICK began very quickly and shot to the lead around the first turn. He ran along at an even tempo and finished off in stylish fashion to win by a large margin. MERRYWOOD MAX began quickly to trail the leader and was able to hold down second position. KEAYANG MOJO was third across the line after settling in fourth position and moving into the death seat at the 600m mark.
