Here's a breakdown of Victoria's trial circuit. For the Craig Rail Trial File Blackbook shoot to the bottom of the page.

KRAZE galloped badly at the start and lost a lot of ground. He was able to chase and tack onto the main group at the bell. He moved up on the outside of SURPRISE TO ME over the latter stages but wanted to lay in and couldn’t get past in the run to the judge. WATCH AND ACT (Skyvalley – Misty Elle) finished in third after setting a slow speed throughout. BACARDI CHIC (Bacardi Lindy – Mysteriousillusion) began slowly and galloped 100m after the start. ANGSKI settled three back on the markers and followed inside runs throughout to finish third. WILL PATRICK was able to follow behind ANGSKI and finished fourth with LOTTA FUSS running in last after galloping away. NIVEKALON EAGLE (Shadow Play – Piece Of My Heart 1.55.3, $41,112) trailed the leader and eventual winner SUPER SEB but dropped back to third late with DOUBLE HAPPINESS (Rock N Roll Heaven – Our Waltzing Mathilda 1.57.7, $12,131) (3 back markers) being last of the four runners after wanting to hang in on the corners.

PUR DAN is a smart former New Zealander that is now with trainer Amanda Grieve. He settled last of the five, ran up behind the pack in the straight and went to the line absolutely jogging with no clear run. He is worth following. SPLIT EAR (Night of the Stars – Voce 1.58.6, $29,279) showed good gate speed to lead and tried hard to repel the challenge of THEULTIMATE in the straight but had to be content with second. He is one of just two foals sired by Night of the Stars NZ, a nine times winning son of Christian Cullen, the other foal having already raced and it won’t be long before SPLIT EAR gets to the races on that performance. JUMPSTART (Village Jolt – Lifesaver Lady 2.1.8, $6,550) finished in third position after trailing the leader. SONOFFLYHIGH (Hilton Fly High – Chilli Deeva) is by the twenty times winning son of Jet Laag in Hilton Fly High, which also only has two foals on the ground. He appeared to be beaten on the home turn but he rallied late to hold down second. MAGICAL MOVER settled three back on the markers and came to the outside on the home turn. He wanted to hang in a little down the front straight but he was finishing off nicely and without being extended. CHRISKEN KIOSK began slowly, travelled awkwardly shortly afterwards and lost valuable ground. He did a huge job to pick up the ground mid-race and tack onto the group but he galloped again with 400m remaining.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.0            Final Half: - 58.89    Margins: - 17.5m, 152m
