The most favoured horses on Sulky.App are calculated by utilising statistics, including horse-specific sectional data as well as race and driver statistics with a variety of likely speed maps.
The following horses are the most favoured horses on Sulky.App in each race this Saturday night at Melton.
These horses may not be the best rated sectionally, but the speed map likely works in their favour and against the better rated horses.
RACE 1 – YAMBUKIAN 13
Yambukian (13) was sensational last start, racing outside of The Lost Storm and only narrowly getting beat after having to cover an extra 22 metres. If he can race as well as he did last start, he will be hard to beat.
Outlaw Man (five), Ubetcha Tigerpie (one) and Platinum Stride (two) should find good positions from their barriers and are great chances.
Perfect Class (seven) is the class horse in this race, but first-up with a poor barrier I’m happy to stay out this week.
Selections: Yambukian 13, Outlaw Man 5, Ubetcha Tigerpie 1, Platinum Stride 2
RACE 2 – ALDEBARAN ZEUS 3
Aldebaran Zeus (three) and One Over All (nine) have the best and similar sectional data in this race.
They are both classy horses, but have positive and negative factors coming into this race. Aldebaran Zeus has a sufficient barrier but is first-up. One Over All is race fit but contends with the poor barrier. He has the best swooper time and will be flashing late.
Ollivici (eight) has the third best sectional rating in this field and is one of the classiest horses. The barrier is complicated, and he will be relying on not being further than three back the fence to be a winning chance.
Sundons Courage (one) has brilliant gate speed and the best barrier. He’s a great first four chance.
Selections: Aldebaran Zeus 3, One Over All 9, Ollivici 8, Sundons Courage 1
RACE 3 – ROCKNROLL WALLA 13
Rocknroll Walla (13) demonstrated a brilliant sectional performance two starts back when third behind Ludacrous and Royal Division. If he can replicate that performance, he should be winning this race even with the poor barrier.
The rest of the field is quite even with the better horses finding poor barriers. Dukes Choice (12), Swizzlestick (eight) and My Uncle Stan (seven) are great place chances.
El Boston (four) has brilliant gate speed and may be the early leader. He may get tired late though.
If Hey Goyougoodthing (nine) does everything right, he also makes a good first four chance.
Selections: Rocknroll Walla 13, Dukes Choice 12, Swizzlestick 8, My Uncle Stan 7
RACE 4 – MOONWALKA 1
If Moonwalka (one) and Kyvalley Amanda (eight) do everything right, then Moonwalka should be leading with Kyvalley Amanda on his back. This possible race map would make them the hardest to beat in this field.
Kyvalley Amanda has the best recent sectional performances, but if she ends up three back on the fence it may make it too hard to win.
Illawong Larajay (10) is racing well sectionally. If she finds luck in running, she’s a winning chance.
Aldebaran Miley (13) has a brilliant sprint, but contests a poor draw. If she isn’t too far back, she will be flashing home.
Selections: Moonwalka 1, Kyvalley Amanda 8, Illawong Larajay 10, Aldebaran Miley 13
RACE 5 – GAWN 7
Gawn (seven) has an awkward barrier but is the classiest horse with great gate speed and the best sectional performances. He should be able to work forward and with his class be too hard to beat.
The Sportz Star (one) has the best barrier, and this race will map well for him. He may get double-crossed early, but he will still be flashing home late.
Rockets Mate (two) has strong recent sectional performances and will be up near the front of the field. The race maps well for him and he should be in the finish.
Beach Hopper (11) has the second-best sectionals to Gawn but has a poor barrier and will need to work hard in the run. He is a great place chance, but it may be too hard to win.
Selections: Gawn 7, The Sportz Star 1, Rockets Mate 2, Beach Hopper 11
RACE 6 – ALDEBARAN BROOKE 3
A very even and open race, with the Sulky.App Most Favoured top four being chosen due to their helpful barriers and the likely speed maps working in their favour. These horses are Aldebaran Brooke (three), Dichotomy (seven), Countess Chiron (four) and Constant (five).
The four horses on the second line (Rapid Return, Royal Charlotte, Cognati and Keayang Gucci) have great recent sectional performances. However, they may end up too far back or need to cover too much ground to be winning chances.
Selections: Aldebaran Brooke 3, Dichotomy 7, Countess Chiron 4, Constant 5
RACE 7 – HEPHAESTUS PHOENIX 5
Hephaestus Phoenix (five) has the best recent sectional performance in this field and does not have a handicap in this field. If he trots, he will be hard to beat.
Courmayeur (four) did everything right last start and she will be right in the finish if she does everything right again.
Virgina Clowers (11) is in great form, has won her last three starts and is full of confidence. She should be right in the finish here.
Illawong Stardust (12) has been racing very well sectionally. However, she must contend with the 30-metre handicap, and it may be too tough.
All The Trix (two) is first-up with Jess Tubbs, and his sectional times put him on par with Ser Patrick and Aldebaran Boyd.
Selections: Hephaestus Phoenix 5, Courmayeur 4, Virgina Clowers 11, Illawong Stardust 12
RACE 8 – KEAYANG TOKYO 4
Keayang Tokyo (four), Stir Me Up (three), Clymenus (one) and Younggiftedandblack (two) look to be the horses up at the front for most of the race. As the field is very even, they will be hard to run down. Terry (nine) has the best sectional rating of the horses on the back line.
Selections: Keayang Tokyo (four), Stir Me Up (three), Clymenus (one), Younggiftedandblack (two)
RACE 9 – JAZSPUR 11
Jazspur (11) and Sosomaori (six) are the stand-out best sectional performers in this field. They will need to cover extra ground from their barriers but should still be in the finish.
The emergency Silent Reverie (three) and Desert Assassin (five) have the equal best gate speed in this race. If Silent Reverie does not gain a start, Desert Assassin should have enough gate speed to lead if desired.
Berriesandcherries has good recent sectional performances but will need to be saved for one run. If she doesn’t end up too far back, she’s a great chance.
Selections: Jazspur 11, Sosomaori 6, Berriesandcherriers 10, Desert Assassin 5
RACE 10 – LET HER ROLL 3
Let Her Roll (three) was super impressive in her runs in South Australia. She looks to have a lot of upside and will be very hard to beat in this run.
Surfe La Mer (five) has a brilliant sprint and seems to prefer to be saved for one run. With this barrier, she can settle early and will be flashing home late.
Ill Be Gone (two) looked to have a lot of ability in his first and only start where he won at Bendigo. He’s likely to improve again from that run and is a great winning chance.
The first starter Golden Shooz (one) maps well in this race, comes from a great team (Jess Tubbs) and is very well bred. This race will be a tough first start for her but a great indicator to see where she lines up.
Selections: Ler Her Roll 3, Surfe La Mer 5, Ill Be Gone 2, Golden Shooz 1
