Mick Stanely's Burrumbeet team appears to be ticking along nicely, with two of his runners topping sectionals charts last week.
The first of those was the talented Drain The Swamp, who backed up his dominant win at Geelong with an eye-catching third in the Signature Clean 4 You 3YO Vicbred Pace at Ballarat.
Chasing the early speed from a long way out, Stanley's charge made up good ground in the run home and clocked both the fastest final 800m and 400m splits of the entire meeting.
The horse is set to step out again at this evening's Bendigo meeting, where he has drawn well in gate one for a heat of the Australian Pacing Gold three-year-old colts and geldings series.
Stanley has long had a good opinion of stablemate Iolanta, and she broke through for career win six in the TAB Long May We Play Pace at Tabcorp Park Melton last Saturday night.
Stanley settled the four-year-old back in the running line from her barrier four draw before sweeping around the field approaching the turn. She hit the front with a great turn of foot and held on to score by more than four metres on the line.
Iolanta clocked 55.65sec for the last 800m, the slickest section of the meeting.
The daughter of Bettors Delight will clash with star Kiwi mare Spellbound in the Nutrien Equine Pace at Melton this Saturday night.
