Shes Ruby Roo will be looking to burst into the history books when she lines up for the Catanach’s Jewellers Victoria Trotters Oaks.

The three-year-old Jess Tubbs (trainer) and Greg Sugars (driver), who retakes the reins after James Herbertson steered the bay filly to glory last start in the Aldebaran Park Need For Speed Princess Final.

Shes Ruby Roo powered down the outside to roll the David Miles-trained Rockinwithattitude, the win ideal preparation leading into a Group 1 with a $75,000 prize pool.

“Her work at home has been terrific. Touch wood there are no setbacks, so all systems go,” Tubbs said.

A six-day break isn’t a problem for Shes Ruby Roo, as she backs up from the sprint win over the longer middle-distance (2240m) feature.

“She should be fine, she came through the run really well, she’s been full of beans at home,” she said.

“James (Herbertson) drove a terrific race on her last week. She really tried right to the line, she seems to just keep on improving the way she’s racing.

“Hopefully she puts in another performance like that, that should see her going close if she gets the luck.”

The three-year-old will have a familiar face back in the sulky for the Oaks, with Sugars hoping to build on a recent Kilmore win in a heat of the Nutrien Equine series for three-year-old trotting fillies.

“She’s drawn eight, so it will be a little bit dependent on what happens around her,” Tubbs said.

“At the start, if anyone makes a mistake and if gaps open up, where she lands and if she gets off the pegs or not will be up to Greg.”

Tubbs also has the number four Dichotomy in the race to be driven by her sister, Amy Tubbs.

“I’ve been really happy with her this time in, she developed a lot,” Tubbs said.

“I’m really happy with where she is at. If she gets a good spot in the run she should be thereabouts at the finish.”

The Catanach’s Jewellers Victoria Trotters Oaks is the fourth race on the card at Melton Entertainment Park, part of a big Pryde’s EasiFeed Victoria Cup program.
