A total of 2,122 services to Victorian sires were recorded in the 2024/25 stud season, according to Harness Racing Australia’s HarnessWeb website.

Twenty-five pacing stallions had 1,718 services and 19 trotting services had 404.

The Alabar Bloodstock duo Always B Miki and Art Major, Poster Boy (Llowalong Farms) and Sweet Lou (Woodlands Stud) all served a full book of 150 mares.

Captain Crunch had 147 mares, first season sire Pebble Beach (117), Rock N Roll Heaven (105), Soho Tribeca (104), Ride High (102), The Storm Inside (94), Bettor’s Delight (81), Vincent (61) and Downbytheseaside (59).

Among the frozen semen sires Captaintreacherous was the most popular with 58 services, while his Empire Stallions’ studmate Stay Hungry had 49.

The busiest trotting sire was the Haras Des Trotteurs’ North American import E L Titan, who had 71 services in his second Australian season. Alabar’s highly touted first season sire Tactical Approach had 55, King Of The North (47), Majestic Son (38) and Classic Connection (35).

Alabar Bloodstock stallions accounted for 1,045 services – almost 50 percent of the total.

Llowalong Farms’ stallions recorded 353 services, Woodlands (343) and Haras Des Trotteurs’ band of trotting sires had 143.

Of the 2,122 services, 1,989 were chilled semen and 133 were frozen.

Victorian breeders brought out the winners of two of the five Group races conducted at Menangle in Quatro Moth (Pink Bonnet), who was bred and is raced by Len and Irene Parker, and Gatesys Gem (NSW Trotters Oaks), who was bred by Michael Hughes


Isolation, who won at Cranbourne on Sunday night, is a gelding out of the Harold Park Listed winner and Group 1 placegetter Misty Miller and was bred by Bendigo horseman Gary Donaldson


Iris Brown, a maiden winner at the Launceston twilight meeting, was bred by Ballarat veterinarian Annemarie Kemmink, of AK & K Equine Services
