The title on top of this race will tell you it’s a Group 2 but in every way manner that matters this is a genuine Heavyweight bout between two budding megastars and a small but significant support cast of speedy, dangerous wanna-be assassins. There’s an old adage that a draw is only good or bad after the race but the way the marbles have landed here WRAPPERS DELIGHT (5) has a giant advantage over arch nemesis THE STORM INSIDE (13). Simply put, while THE STORM INSIDE (13) has been ‘battling his demons’ as part-owner Shannon Nixon put it during the week WRAPPERS DELIGHT (5) has developed form talented powder puff to Standardbred wrecking ball who just weeks ago sat parked to win the Group 1 Vicbred Super Series final over Miracle Mile runner-up Jilliby Kung Fu. If WRAPPERS DELIGHT (5) leads as expected then THE STORM INSIDE (13) will want to be every bit the freak he appeared as a juvenile to prevail. If they tear each other asunder then SIRLETIC (3) has some hope of stalking and spearing them in the lane while the only other real winning hope is SAN DOMINO (10) who can appear near-bottomless at times but can also throw in an unexpected failure when one least expects it.
