It's hard to imagine harness racing without Greg Sugars. He was a rare soul -- humble in victory, gracious in defeat, and always generous with his time and spirit.

Greg, you will forever race on in our hearts.

Greg, I can't believe you're gone. I didn't believe the news when I heard it. It's been a week and I'm still waking up every morning hoping it's all just a dream. I never drove in races but you were still my idol....

I'm Jess' uncle, her Mum Kate's brother. I have been a trots fan since I was 7, 55 years ago. I am a terrible $2 punter, but have just followed Amy....

I still can't believe Greg is gone. When I heard the news, I was in complete shock and hoped it was just a bad dream I would wake up from. The loss he leaves behind is immense.

Although of similar age Greg was someone I idolized both as a Driver and a Trainer. Even though he was a rockstar on the track and someone who had done so much so early in his career he was so level headed off the track, just hand him the reins and he would do the rest.

RIP Candyman

I would like to pass on my deepest condolences to Jess Tubbs, the Sugars family and everyone who knew Greg Sugars....

I am truly heartbroken hearing the terribly shocking and sad news of Greg's passing. Greg was a wonderful person who always found time for a chat even if he didn't really have the time. His ability on track was incredible and he was always high on the list when Tom was looking for a driver....

As a passionate lover of Harness Racing, hearing the passing of the late, great Greg Sugars truly saddened me and a large number of industry participants and punters alike. A true, all-around nice guy and someone to truly admire on and off the track, whether it be as a punter, owner and trainer/driver. You will be missed by many, but your memories will forever live on, and you will always be remembered as a legend. R.I.P Greg Sugars

Greg was a legend and a damn good bloke. He treated everyone the same regardless of if you were new to harness racing or had been in the sport for years. He always drove his horse for the win, whether the horse was a low rating long shot or a group 1 shoe in. We were lucky enough to have Greg drive our horses on many occasions....
