A change in barrier draws meant a change in fortunes for Kiwi import Harry Stamper, who reversed the result from last month’s Victoria Trotters Derby when he beat Cravache Dor in the On A Streak @ HDT Breeders Crown final for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings.

The Majestic Son gelding clinched his second Group 1 victory for trainer Joe Pace when he led virtually all of the way in the $80,000 feature.

Anthony Butt was at the controls as Harry Stamper held off Cravache Dor (Anton Golino/Nathan Jack) by just over 5m, with Courage Stride (Chris Lang) finishing well for third.

On A Streak @ HDT Breeders Crown for 3YO trotting colts and geldings champions:
Horse: Harry Stamper
Trainer: Joe Pace
Driver: Anthony Butt
Owner: S Castro
Breeder: B A Williamson, C S R Porter, A G Porter
Breeding: By Majestic Son out of Dwindle Mist

THE RACE:

Harry Stamper was able to burrow through and hold the lead from the speedy Plymouth Chubb, who tried to cross but couldn’t do so in the early stages of the race.

Nathan Jack then sent Cravache Dor forward from his back row draw to a spot outside the Kiwi trotter, but the Derby winner couldn’t stick with him when they sprinted for home.

The early burn told on Plymotuh Chubb late, with Courage Stride sneaking home for third.

THE WINNING WORDS:

Anthony Butt: "Real big thrill. Joe Pace is a good mate of mine, really surprised and thrilled when I got the call up to drive him, so pleased I could get the job done for him."
