Bronte Nieuwenburg has outlined her selections and suggested game plan for tonight's eight-race card at Ballarat.

R1 – 6.00pm – ballarattrottingclub.com.au Pace – 2200m

4 – Billys Tiger Khan

3 – Isolation

5 – Keayang Galliano

8 – Major Drama

The Allan McDonough-trained Billys Tiger Khan is a promising young pacer who steps out for his second run this campaign. He had a tough task first-up from a wide draw but still found the line nicely. With that hit-out under his belt and a much-improved barrier tonight, expect him to take a significant step forward.

BACK: 4 Billys Tiger Khan – 2 units (win)

R2 – 6.37pm – Freighter Group 4yo & Older Maiden Pace – 2200m

10 – American Victory

7 – Talkbabytalk

2 – Riddlemethis

3 – Im The Wild One

R3 – 7.05pm – Freemans Transport Pace – 2200m

9 – Best Back Bruce

7 – Royal Saxon

2 – Wingate Guy

8 – Blackindeed

Best Back Bruce had excuses last start after locking wheels and being checked, so that run can be forgiven. He was a winner at his two prior starts and now draws well in barrier nine at Ballarat. With even luck, he looks a strong chance to return to winning form.

BACK: 9 Best Back Bruce – 2 units (win)

R4 – 7.36pm – Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock Pace – 2200m

4 – Snazola

9 – Breathe Easy

6 – Lollipop

5 – Lester

R5 – 8.06pm – Chris Leonard Prd Pace – 1710m

9 – Muselet

8 – Lady In Line

3 – Speedy Healey

4 – Viva Storm

Muselet has been in strong form, winning his last three starts since Kerryn Manning took the reins. The star reinswoman appears to have struck a great affinity with the gelding and reunites with him here from a suitable draw in barrier nine at Ballarat.

BACK: 9 Muselet – 2 units (win)

R6 – 8.36pm – Hewitt & Whitty Trot – 2200m

9 – Distant Sun

1 – Love Who

5 – Boutika

2 – Romantic Nina

Tyrone Abela’s smart trotter Distant Sun steps out for his first run of the year tonight. He ended last preparation on a high with victory in the South Australian Trotters Derby and tuned up with a second placing in a recent Bacchus Marsh trial. From barrier nine, he should get his chance to hit the line strongly first-up.

BACK: 9 Distant Sun – 2 units (win)

R7 – 9.06pm – Eureka Concrete Mares Trot – 2200m

3 – Keayang Francisco

5 – Dona Amalia

6 – Shes Sky High

1 – Beach Heaven

Keayang Francisco was gutsy two starts ago when forced to do it tough throughout. We can forget last start as she was checked and broke. She should settle in a forward position here and may prove too strong.

BACK: 3 Keayang Santiago – 2 units (win)

R8 – 9.36pm – Woodlands Stud 3yo Maiden Pace – 1710m

5 – Whiskeydrinkingbill

7 – Segui Le Stella

1 – Belvu Bandit

6 – Daretodance

** A betting unit is typically a percentage of the total bankroll or the amount of money you are willing to risk on a particular bet – for example 1 unit is 10% of your bankroll, therefore with a $100 bankroll 1 unit equals $10.
