Tim O'Connor has done the form for the Saturday night meeting at Melton Entertainment Park.

R1 – 5.17pm – BENSTUD STANDARDBREDS FREE FOR ALL – 2240m

6 – Yambukian

1 – Kiss

9 – Young Bluey

2 – Sahara Breeze

R2 – 5.54pm – DYNAMIC PRINT GROUP PACE – 2240m

4 – Frugal Fare

12 – Letsrockletsroll

13 – Little Louie

2 – Rakajed

Good little race this, but siding with the grey Frugal Fare. He was held up all the way to the line first-up, and was caught parked in a small field second-up when they ripped home in 55.4sec. He was only beaten 6.3m in what was a solid effort. This is more suitable and he draws ahead of some key rivals.

BACK: 4 Frugal Fare – 0.5 unit (each-way)

R3 – 6.24pm – LOGICAL STAFFING SOLUTIONS NMW PACE – 1720m

10 – Its Confidential

8 – Always Be Blakey

6 – All Da Rage

11 – Neatntidy

Its Confidential performed well through the Nutrien series during April, finishing fourth in the final behind Fate Awaits when he wasn’t given much clear room in the straight. He returns here on the back of a good trial at Cobram and might have the class edge.

I’m also having a small place-heavy each-way play on All Da Rage, who I thought could be forgiven for his effort at Melton two back when he ran an incredibly fast lead time. He has won in dominant fashion at Mildura since and there’s some chance of him finding the front on Saturday night I fancy. Expecting big odds.

BACK: 10 Its Confidential 2 units (win) and 6 All Da Rage 0.5 unit (win)/1.5 unit (place)

R4 – 6.57pm – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PACE – 1720m

11 – Im Dustee

13 – My Ultimate Barney

4 – Komodo

3 – Bulldog Khan

R5 – 7.33pm – RENOWN SILVERWARE 3YO PACE – 2240m

1 – Always Dancing

7 – Cigano

4 – Crocodile Socks

8 – Goodtime Captain

R6 – 8pm – ALDEBARAN PARK TROT – 2240m

1 – Jilliby Ballerini

6 – Gotfeelingsyouknow

7 – Remus Phoenix

3 – Perfidious Sue

R7 – 8.39pm – HYGAIN VICTORY MARES PACE – 1720m

9 – Surfingmakescents

5 – Jazzy Melea

6 – Wings On The Line

7 – Sweet Ideal

Surfingmakescents hasn’t been seen since a dominant all-the-way win at Geelong back in November when she sizzled home in 29.2 and 26.7. This is a harder assignment than that one, but she brings good mares form to the table and I’m happy to back her on the each-way.

BACK: 9 Surfingmakescents – 1 unit (each-way)

R8 – 9.18pm – HERTZ MELTON 3YO 1MW TROT – 2240m

6 – Ijustcalledtosay

4 – Watts Up The Hill

8 – Mystery Fred

3 – Snickers Express

R9 – 9.59pm – HIP POCKET CASTLEMAINE TROT – 1720m

7 – Hoppy

5 – Maoris Mac

2 – Alrighty

8 – Claudy An Gus

I loved Hoppy’s return a fortnight ago at Melton when he settled four pegs and sliced through the field to finish second to Dichotomy. He enjoyed a handy three-year-old season – which included a fourth placing in the Derby behind Keayang Zahara – and looks to have come back really well from a break. Keen.

BACK: 7 Hoppy – 3 units (win)

** A betting unit is typically a percentage of the total bankroll or the amount of money you are willing to risk on a particular bet – for example 1 unit is 10% of your bankroll, therefore with a $100 bankroll 1 unit equals $10.
