The title Inter Dominon champion is shared by only a few and those who have reached the summit have a story to share.
Eric Hurley, trainer and driver of 1964 Inter Dominion winner Minuteman, has relived his mighty win in the first of the Legends of the Inter Dominion feature series, which will be shared across Harness Racing Victoria's channels in the lead-up to December's ID18.
"It was the greatest race put together for championship horses, and if you can win it, you've got a champion," said Hurley of the Inter Dominion, which returns to Victoria for the first time since 2008.
The veteran horseman heaped praise on Minuteman, who he said could maintain a high pace, an attribute he showed when leading all the way to win the 1964 feature.
"There's not another horse born that I know of that was so ... knowing about what he was doing," Hurley said. "He had a knowledge of what he should do in a top race."
