Christmas comes early for harness fans tomorrow, when Australia’s best pacer, Lochinvar Art, headlines a ripper 12-race Alabar Vicbred Super Series semi-finals card at Tabcorp Park Melton.
And the added spice is, he meets the brilliant Hurricane Harley – who boasts two wins from his past three meetings with Lochinvar Art – in race eight.
In a real coup, Sky Racing 2 (Foxtel 527) will fully showcase the stellar Vicbred semis night from 5.15pm. You’ll get all the interviews, previews and analysis live from the track with Gareth Hall, Jason Bonnington, Rob Auber, Dan Mielicki and yours truly.
It’s the first such Sky 2 showcasing since the Ballarat heats of the Inter Dominion in December, 2018.
The Lochinvar Art/Hurricane Harley rematch has been made more intriguing by the barrier draw, with both drawn poorly. Lochinvar Art is inside the back row (gate eight), while Hurricane Harley is outside the back (13).
Hurricane Harley has led throughout from better draws to upset Lochinvar Art in two of their past three clashes. New driver Kate Gath will surely be tempted to try and keep pushing forward at the start in a quest to both stay in front of Lochinvar Art and find the lead.
Lochinvar Art has firmed from $1.65 to $1.55 with TAB, while Hurricane Harley has eased from $2.40 to $2.50.
Superstar two-year-old filly Ladies In Red should stretch her unbeaten record to nine wins from the pole in race 12, especially with her main rival Tough Tilly drawn wide (gate seven).
Breeders Crown winner Major Moth is looking better with every run and is a $1.35 favourite despite a bad draw (gate 12) in his semi of the 2YO colts and geldings series (Race 11).
Another ripper clash looms in race two where the much-improved local Miss McGonagall (gate two, $1.70) drawing better and meeting star Kiwi raider Our Princess Tiffany (seven, $2.90).
