The Nutrien Equine Melbourne Yearling Sale is just 48 hours away on Sunday, April 2 at the Oaklands Junction Sales complex which means that the many of the country’s owners and trainers are watching videos and studying the catalogue looking for that next champion horse.
There are 304 yearlings catalogued, and the auction will get underway at 11am on Sunday, April 2 with the second session starting at 12 noon on Monday, April 3. The opening session will offer Lots 374 to 554, while the Monday segment will see Lots 555 to 677 go under the hammer.
The Woodlands Stud sale parade will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April 1 and the sales company will provide complimentary drinks and canaepes, while prospective purchasers peruse the expansive offerings.
Sixty four stallions are represented in the 2023 catalogue, including high profile sires such as Bettor’s Delight, Art Major, Captaintreacherous, American Ideal, Sweet Lou, Somebeachsomewhere, Always B Miki, Rock N Roll Heaven, Sportswriter, Majestic Son, Love You and Father Patrick and brilliant young sires in Captain Crunch, Stay Hungry, Vincent, Downbytheseaside, Betting Line, McWicked, Poster Boy, Lazarus, Soho Tribeca, The Storm Inside, What The Hill and Volstead.
The progeny of 39 Group winning mares - including 22 Group One’s – will go up for auction. The list includes Carlas Pixel, Nike Franco, Speak No Evil, Heavens Trend, Bamako Mali, Life Inthefastlane, Aussie Made Lombo, Im Smouldering, Miss Galvinator, Claudy’s Princess, Shezoneoftheboyz and Reina Danzante.
There’s siblings to 65 Group winners including horses the calibre of Ride High, Poster Boy, The Storm Inside, Act Now, Cruz Bromac, Turn It Up, Shez All Rock, Yankee Rockstar, Soho Almasi, School Captain, Beyond Delight, Catalpa Rescue, Irish Black Label, Focus Stride, Smooth Showgirl, Treasure, the trotters El Jaykay Phoenix, Ofortuna, Elusive Charm, Banglez and Kinvara Sue and many others.
Yearlings are eligible for the Nutrien Equine Sales Classics with guaranteed $175,000 Finals for two-year-old pacing colts/geldings and fillies, $100,000 Finals for three-year-old pacing colts/geldings and fillies, $62,500 Finals for two-year-old trotting colts/geldings and fillies and $125,000 Finals for three-year-old trotting colts/geldings and fillies.
They are also eligible for Vicbred, Vicbred Platinum, Breeders Crown, NSW Breeders Challenge, Bathurst Gold Crown, QBred, Southern Cross, Tasbred and Need For Speed.
