Vicbred Vouchers Terms & Conditions

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) operates the Vicbred scheme to reward owners who invest in Victorian standardbred horses by awarding a Vicbred voucher to owners of a Vicbred horse that wins a Vicbred programmed race.

Who will receive a Vicbred voucher

HRV will issue one (1) Vicbred voucher to spend up to $5,000 on one transaction to the owner(s) of a qualified Vicbred horse that places first in a programmed Vicbred race.

The finishing position for a Vicbred horse will be determined by the official programmed race finishing order.

If following the issuance of a Vicbred voucher with respect to the programmed race:

  • HRV, the Racing Appeals & Disciplinary (RAD) Board, or any other relevant tribunal or court jurisdiction determines that the Vicbred horse is disqualified from that race under the Rules of Racing due to a prohibited substance or for any other reason that horse is disqualified, then all Vicbred vouchers issued for that race by HRV with respect to the disqualified horse must be immediately forfeited to HRV.

  • HRV retains the absolute discretion as to whether it will redirect any Vicbred vouchers forfeited to any other Vicbred horse which placed first in the adjusted final finishing order.

  • A Vicbred voucher is not prizemoney for the rules of racing and is not to be taken into account when deciding the eligibility of a horse or the balloting conditions applicable to a race.

  • Owners are ineligible to receive a Vicbred voucher if they are currently serving a period of disqualification or subject to a warning off pursuant to the rules of racing of any racing jurisdiction, whether in Australia or overseas (Disqualification).

  • Should an owner hold one or more Vicbred vouchers at the time of disqualification, the vouchers shall be immediately forfeited to HRV and shall be deemed void.

Distribution of Vicbred Vouchers

The Vicbred voucher will be allocated to the managing owner of the relevant Vicbred horse. The voucher will not be split between all owners or syndicate members.

If there is a dead-heat for first place in a Vicbred programmed race that carries a Vicbred voucher:

  • If one or more of the horses which dead-heated is a Vicbred horse, the Vicbred voucher will not be applied.

Issuance of Vicbred Vouchers

Vicbred vouchers will only be issued to an owner who is not otherwise ineligible pursuant to these terms and conditions or the rules of racing.

HRV will not be responsible for any mismanagement or unlawful appropriation of a Vicbred voucher if it is issued to a syndicate manager or approved syndicate member.

If the Vicbred horse is subject to a lease, the following shall apply:

  • Where one or more owners of a Vicbred horse has a lease interest in the horse, the Vicbred vouchers shall be issued to the managing lessee (or where approved in writing by HRV, another member of the lessee group) for use by the managing lessee on behalf of the lessee group only. HRV will not be responsible for any mismanagement or unlawful appropriation of a Vicbred voucher if it is issued to a managing lessee or approved lessee member; or

  • Vicbred vouchers are non-transferrable and not redeemable for cash.

  • Vicbred vouchers are valid until 1 May 2027

Redemption of a Vicbred voucher

Eligible owners will receive the Vicbred Voucher in registered mail within 30 days of the race.

The vouchers can be used for:

  • Purchasing a Vicbred Platinum or Vicbred Pure yearling at any Victorian standardbred yearling sale, or

  • Accessing the breeding services of a Victoria registered stallion, provided the mare is inseminated, foaled down and registered in Victoria. (The resulting foal would be deemed Vicbred Platinum).

A Vicbred voucher cannot be used to purchase any share or interest, either directly or indirectly, in a horse where the owner holds an interest, or held an interest in the period commencing previous twelve (12) months prior to the date on which the owner became eligible to receive the relevant Vicbred voucher.

Once the stud farm and sales company receives the Voucher, the back of the voucher must be filled out and returned to HRV with a tax invoice for processing payment.
