Lester launches late to land $5000 bet at Mildura

Lester has been a busy boy in the Sunraysia during the past week and one punter was cheering after his sole victory in the region on Friday night.

The Lindsay Rogers-trained pacer charged late and grabbed tearaway leader Silky Smooth Excuse in the shadows of the post to win a heat of The Gateway Pace, landing a TAB customer a $5000 wager at $2.15.

Among the other big bets recorded by the TAB last week were two $5000 cracks at Dallas Charlie before his win half an hour before Lester’s success.
