Futurities

Let’s start with the futurity schemes, which reward locally bred pacers and trotters.

• Vicbred is a nation-leading breeding scheme that provides incentives and rewards to breeders and owners of racehorses. It has different levels of eligibility and benefits based on the horse’s lineage and where it was born as well as September’s amazing Vicbred Super Series.

• Breeders Crown held in December, will mark the final running of the Australasian Breeders Crown, a series that will feature only three-year-olds. HRV, having worked closely with breeding and participant stakeholder groups, will combine the Breeders Crown and Vicbred Super Series in 2027, forming the Vicbred Breeders Crown, which will keep alive the state’s great traditions while elevating the next generation of superstars.

• Need for Speed a highly popular Group 1 race series for three-year-old trotters (split into the Need For Speed Prince for colts/geldings and Princess for fillies), it features heats and finals conducted over a distance closest to one mile. It all comes to an end with a celebration at the Night at The Trots, with a spotlight on Team Teal, a fundraiser to support the fight against ovarian cancer.
