Can Dan do it again in a hot Geelong Pacing Cup?

Mach Dan will look to become just the second horse to claim back-to-back editions of the Geelong Pacing Cup this Saturday night.

The Emma Stewart-trained winner of 23 races has drawn barrier four as he looks to defend the title he won in emphatic style last year.

Mach Dan is one of three horses that competed in last weekend’s epic Victoria Cup to back-up into the Geelong feature, with Michael Stanley’s Rock N Roll Doo (barrier three) and Scott Ewen’s Bulletproof Boy (seven) among the contenders for Group 3 spoils.

The TAB opened Rock N Roll Doo favourite at $1.90, with Stewart runners Major Moth ($4), Mach Dan ($4.20) and Beyond Delight ($9) all in single figures.

Our Malabar won the Geelong Pacing Cup in both 2009 and 2010.

Meanwhile, the Jess Tubbs-trained One Over All ($1.80) tops the early market for the $25,000 McNamara Trotters Cup.

He will start from a 30m handicap, with Ray Harvey’s The Penny Drops ($10) off 20m and Joe Pace’s Harry Stamper ($3.50) beginning from the 10m tape. Kyvalley Hotspur, for Brent Lilley, has the front line and is third favourite at $4.20.
