Preview Show: Mielicki, Auber say short-priced stars are vulnerable

Catch A Wave and The Lost Storm may be drawing plenty of hype but the star TAB Eureka-bound pair are more vulnerable than their TAB.com.au prices may suggest.

That’s the verdict of Dan Mielicki and Rob Auber on the Saturday Night Harness Racing Preview Show, who agreed the million-dollar hopefuls would have to be good to win on Saturday night at Melton.

Auber said he thinks $1.30 chance Catch A Wave can bounce back and win the City Of Melton My Lightning Blue FFA, but “we’ve got to keep in mind he still might be three weeks away until he’s at peak”.

Auber has Interest Free as a genuine place chance and blowout hope, while Mielicki “can’t tip against Catch A Wave, I think he’s a great chaser … but it’s a really good race”.

However, of The Lost Storm in the following race – the TAB Download The App 3YO Pace – Mielicki said the $1.10 chance was running into a “really good” Son Of Mac “and I reckon he’ll lead, he’ll run some time and The Lost Storm has got to be right on his game here”.

It was a day to remember for Aaron Dunn. Not only did he go back-to-back from last year to this year in the Matthews Petroleum Hamilton Pacing Cup, he also trained the quinella, with Forty Love taking the honours and last year’s winner Dee Roe finishing second, driven by Jackie Barker.

While the ink is far from dry on the $500,000 Summer Of Glory bonus cheque, superstar mare Keayang Zahara is on track to provide her connections with a windfall after her effortless win in the Group 1 $100,000 Aldebaran Park Maori Mile.
