Trial File: Cassie ready to chase the cash first-up at Kilmore

Cashflow Cassie has worked up nicely for a first-up appearance at Kilmore on Tuesday, with Harness Racing Victoria form analyst Craig Rail tipping the horse should ”run a big race” in her first appearance since January.

Rail was taken by the Neville Pangrazio-trained pacer’s effort at the Kilmore trials this week and promptly added her to his Blackbook.

Also making the file was the David Aiken-trained squaregaiter Maoris Mac, Craig Demmler’s Strapping Red and Jess Tubbs’ Vee Em Gee Macray.

TRIAL REPORT

KILMORE 27/04/23

Trial 3: – LIP READER settled last of the four runners, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 500m and came out three horses wide at the 300m. He sprinted brilliantly in a sizzling final quarter of 26.9 seconds to score impressively. He is meeting a strong field at Melton tomorrow night but he is obviously at his peak. CASHFLOW CASSIE attempted to lead throughout and did very well to hold down second considering she has a National Rating of 50 and the winner has a Rating of 111! She strikes a suitable field at Kilmore on Tuesday night and should run a big race. ROARFORROSCOE finished third after settling three back on the markers throughout and HUGO MAGUIRE was last across the line after trailing the leader throughout.

Mile Rate: – 2.0.2                            Last Half: – 57.1                Margins: – 1.5m, 2m

BLACKBOOKER: – Cashflow Cassie

Trial 4: – MACHO MAORI was the only 3yo trotter taking on the juveniles and was able to lead throughout. The eye-catching performance came from the David Aiken trained MAORIS MAC. She settled three back on the markers, moved away from the inside on the home turn and finished off quickly without being pushed. She is a lovely looking filly by Volstead out of Maori Daunou, which is an unraced daughter of the champion mare Sumthingaboutmaori. She has produced two winners including the top trotter Maorisfavouritesun (1.55.1, $214,574) so MAORIS MAC has the looks, breeding and obviously the speed to become a handy performer. KYVALLEY MICHAEL NZ finished in third position after trailing the leader and using the sprint lane.

Mile Rate: – 2.5.3                            Last Half: – 61.1                Margins: – 2.5m, Neck

BLACKBOOKER: – Maoris Mac

BACCHUS MARSH 29/04/23

Trial 1: – STRAPPING RED has joined trainer Craig Demmler since her latest sixth at Cranbourne on March 03. She recorded handy time in winning the opening trial by a comfortable margin and she has a low National Rating of 48 so she might be worth following. SASSCILIAN finished in second position and was well ahead of ZARAS ALL GOOD, which was third across the line and is racing at Kilmore on Tuesday night.

Mile Rate: – 2.0.3                            Last Half: – 59.0                Margins: – 8m, 15m

BLACKBOOKER: – Strapping Red

Trial 6: – IMPERIAL WHIZ won the trial for the open class trotters and the win would have given him some confidence leading into his effort at Yarra Valley this afternoon, where he starts from the tough handicap of 50m. He recorded handy time and defeated TENNERSON with RIGHT OF REPLY being last of the three runners across the line but he wasn’t beaten by far and his National Rating of 48 was clearly the lowest Rating of the trial.

Mile Rate: – 2.1.2                            Last Half: – 61.2                Margins: – 3m, 6m

Trial 7: – CASTER SEMENYA NZ has been lightly raced since coming from New Zealand and galloped away at her first run since December. She does have ability and recorded the fastest time of the day in defeating KENDYS BUTTERFLY by a narrow margin with AUCKLAND RED being twenty metres away in third position.

Mile Rate: – 2.0.0                            Last Half: – 59.1                Margins: – Head, 20m

Trial 9: – MELFIELD EMPRESS is an unraced filly for trainer Tim McGuigan and is related to four winners including Overthorns (1.57.3, $81,602). She scored by a comfortable margin and in reasonable time. She is meeting a handy field at Horsham for her debut effort on Monday. BRAEBEACH NZ has only had three starts since coming from Queensland and finished second with MY ROCK MOVES being the third horse across the line.

Mile Rate: – 2.1.5                            Last Half: – 59.3                Margins: – 6m, 20m

MARYBOROUGH 30/04/23

Trial 1: – DISTRICT ATTORNEY prepared for his effort in the Gold Bullion at Melton on Saturday night with an effortless display in a field of just two runners. He led comfortably but roared to the line in an outstanding final quarter of 26.7 seconds. MAVERICKS JET was well beaten but he has only had three starts and has a National Rating of 52 whereas DISTRICT ATTORNEY won a Metropolitan race at his latest attempt.

Mile Rate: – 2.5.6                            Last Half: – 56.9                Margin: – 30m

Trial 4: – IZARRA hasn’t raced since finishing fifth in the Super Series Final for the juvenile trotting fillies in December. She has now joined trainer Bradley Cross and won the trial by leading out the taking cover at the 1200m. She just held on in the run to the post but it was a nice performance. CHANTILLY DEE was a clear last early, settled in the running lane (1-3), got a little closer at the 900m then finished off fast for an eye-catching second. She has galloped at her only two starts to date but the trial effort suggests she can show improvement this preparation. She is meeting a tough line up at Horsham on Monday. SAN ANTONIA ROSE was caught wide early, restrained to a rearward position (1-2) and was left without cover from the 900m so she produced a creditable performance to finish third.

Mile Rate: – 2.6.1                            Last Half: – 61.9                Margins: – Neck, 2m

ECHUCA 30/04/23

Trials 2 + 3: Trainer Mal Whiteford was successful with a double in the last two events with MANDS PEARL and PARISIAN BANDIT. MANDS PEARL was able to lead throughout to defeat SAVERIO, which sat in the trail with OLIVER SHARK coming from three back on the markers to finish in third. MANDS PEARL recorded a mile rate of 2.4.2 and scored by four metres. PARISIAN BANDIT was able to win from behind the leader and showed good acceleration at the end to score by approximately a length in a mile rate of 2.6.0. MARAKO SHARK finished second after attempting to lead throughout and STORMBOY STAR (5 back markers) used the sprint lane to pick up third position. Both MANDS PEARL and PARISIAN BANDIT will be competing at the big Pacing for Pink program at Shepparton on Sunday.

HAMILTON 01/05/23

Trial 2: – EASTBRO KOZZY is a 2yo colt by Ohoka Punter out of Eastbro Yankee, which is an unraced daughter of the former handy race mare and now winner producer Indiana Rose. He was able to win the trial from another juvenile in SMOKIN STREPO, which broke stride at his latest race track appearance at Globe Derby Park. FIRE OFFICIAL finished a close up third with the John Meade prepared trotter MATTYO being fourth across the line.

Mile Rate: – 2.3.4                            Last Half: – 61.1                Margins: – ½ head, 2.5m

MELTON PARK

Trial 2: – ARCEE PHOENIX continued his very good trial form with a runaway victory over DELLBONTORE and LOVEFORMONEY. He settled three back on the inside, came to the outside with 600m remaining and produced a big finish to get the prize. DELLBONTORE is an unraced 7yo gelding by Fling It for trainer Fred Spiteri. He finished a distant second after trailing the leader and LOVEFORMONEY was third past the post after racing fiercely in the lead.

Mile Rate: – 2.1.5                            Last Half: – 60.5                Margins: – 55.5m, 34.5m

Trial 4: – OLIVER SMUDGE is by Sebastian K out of Jaurdon, which is out of the former champion trotting mare in Jauriol. He enjoyed a nice trip behind the leader but showed great acceleration at the end to win by a large margin. He obviously has ability and is worth following. SEQUENCE finished second after settling five back on the markers and being checked on the home turn. He had to swing well inside of the marker pegs on the home turn to avoid the galloping TUMULT. MAORI FRANKLIN was third after settling six back on the inside and moving away from the markers at the 700m. The early leader SISTA EVARISTA broke stride when being overtaken by OLIVER SMUDGE in the home straight. She was going to finish either second or third at the time she galloped.

Mile Rate: – 2.4.9                            Last Half: – 60.4                Margins: – 16m, 3.5m

Trial 5: – VEE EM GEE MACRAY hasn’t started since finishing seventh in the Super Series Final in December but she created a good impression and should have a prosperous campaign. She settled three back on the markers, came away from the inside at the 400m and sprinted quickly at the end to snare victory on the line. SOMETHIN BOUT EILY was second after setting the speed and the juvenile pacer LETSGETROWDY did well to fill third position after settling four back on the inside and doing his best work late.

Mile Rate: – 2.1.5                            Last Half: – 56.7                Margins: – Short ½ Head, 9.5m

BLACKBOOKER: – Vee Em Gee Macray
