Owners rejoice with The Club Lounge readied for Melton opening

The first winning celebrations will echo through The Club Lounge on Saturday night when Melton’s new ownership hub will heighten the trackside experience for the sport’s most invested fans.

Minister for Racing Anthony Carbines will join Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) chairman Dale Monteith and guests as the ribbon’s officially cut on the almost $1.3 million project, made possible with $945,000 from the State Government’s Victorian Racing Industry Fund and $322,000 from HRV.

The result is an exclusive bar that Monteith said would provide “exceptional trackside viewing”, benefitting owners and members of Victorian Harness Racing Club, which had been a key driver in the project.

“This terrific facility will provide great comfort for the VHRC’s dedicated members and the more than 4700 owners whose horses compete across 80 race meetings at Melton each year,” Monteith said.

“At other times it will be available to hire for events and corporate functions, which we hope will generate revenue that can be put back into improvements for everyone to enjoy.”

The Club Lounge will be officially opened Saturday night amid a nine-race card, which is headlined by the $100,000 APG Gold Bullion three-year-old finals.

The lounge will be able to be enjoyed by VHRC members from Saturday night’s opening.

From May 27, owners with a participating horse at Melton meetings will also be welcomed to enjoy the facility, including a new ‘winning owners’ room’, where connections will be able to celebrate their four-legged superstars’ on-track success.
