The $1million Miracle Mile remains on the radar for excitement machine Major Moth after promising results from a bone scan last week.
Owner Len Parker said while there was still some concern around an ongoing “PODS” problem, tests conducted at the Ballarat Veterinary Clinic had revealed no significant internal issues following a transport incident in late December.
“It was as good as we could have expected,” Parker said.
“The injuries from going down (in the truck), it’s just all soreness and bruising etcetera. We are going to press on with this campaign.”
Parker said the horse hurt himself on the way home after his Vicbred semi-final victory on December 23, which eventually led to his scratching from the decider on New Year’s Eve.
The Del-Re National A. G. Hunter Cup on February 4 is now off the table for Major Moth, with the focus on qualifying for the Miracle Mile at Menangle on March 4.
Major Moth is a 12-time winner from 20 career starts with prizemoney earnings of almost $300,000.
