There will be no Queensland campaign for Pink Galahs in 2022 as connections look to give the top trotting mare a long break before tackling some of the big features at home in Victoria.
The Matthew Craven-trained squaregaiter was one of the stories of last year’s carnival up north, with the then four-year-old landing the Group 1 Darrell Alexander Trotting Championship Final among three victories at Albion Park during July.
She had earlier won two heats of the Championship and concluded her interstate raid with a third placing in the Group 1 Queensland Trotters Cup.
Craven said there were no concerns with the horse and that it was the plan to give Pink Galahs a good spell, which she will likely remain on until sometime around the middle of the year.
Pink Galahs was scratched from December 31’s Vicbred Super Series 4YO Trotting Mares Final due to what Craven described as a foot abscess and was subsequently sent to the paddock.
The daughter of Skyvalley is a five-time Group 1 winner and has collected more than $330,000 in prizemoney from her 18 career triumphs.
