Participants lauded as Horsham readies for drivers championship

Hot on the heels of The Weekly Advertiser Horsham Pacing Cup meeting, the club is back in harness on Labour Day Monday for the 32nd Decron Noel Smith Memorial Invitation Drivers Championship and 12th HHRC Industry Participants Appreciation race day.

While the 10 invited drivers may claim much of the attention out on the race track, without the enormous day in, day out efforts from each of our trainers, owners, drivers, stable hands, breeders and their families there just wouldn’t be an industry.

“It’s been a great move for all concerned to formally recognise our industry participants every year,” club president Terry Lewis said.

“With the generous support of like-minded suppliers and manufacturers, we distribute a plethora of their products, merchandise and vouchers to the people who are our lifeblood.

“Everyone goes home a winner from Horsham on Monday thanks to Decron Horse Care, Carbine Chemicals, Hygain-Mitavite, Mustad Australia, Magnum Equine, Fly Veils By Design, Hyland Racing Colours, Tabcorp Park Melton, Runners Relief, Zilco International, Worlds Best Hoof Oil, Virbac Australia, Claire Weston Photography, Roma Pocock Rugs, GrafxInc and the VTDA.”

With the covid-19 cloud still lingering, Monday’s Invitation will again feature an all-Big V lineup of drivers.

Reigning Noel Smith champion Jason Lee will defend his crown against Chris Alford, Kerryn Manning, Jack Laugher, Zac Phillips, Kate Gath, James Herbertson, Anthony Butt, Greg Sugars and first timer Leigh Sutton.
