Participants are reminded that fairness, respect, responsibility, safety, and integrity are core principles and behaviours required when operating in the harness racing industry.
As outlined in the Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Statement of Expected Behaviour of Participants, participants must:
- Be aware of the standards of conduct and behaviour expected.
- Ensure activities undertaken inspire public trust and confidence of stakeholders and the broader community.
- Be aware of the consequences of failing to meet the standards of conduct and behaviour required.
Mandatory online training also forms part of HRV participant licensing requirements.
Anyone who fails to meet required standards of conduct may be subject to a hearing in front of HRV stewards and/or the Victorian Racing Tribunal.
A licence is a privilege granted by HRV and stewards may suspend or cancel a licence for any condition breach of the licence [Rule 90(6)(a)] or where HRV is satisfied that a licence holder is not a ‘fit and proper person’ to be associated with harness racing [Rule 90(6)(b)].
