Michael Denny’s TrotStars Line Up takes Night 2 honours

With a glut of Group 1 winners in his midst, Michael Denny topped the table in Night 2 of TrotStars, amassing $234,000 in prizemoney to take the top prize.

Denny coupled the Victoria Derby (Line Up) and Oaks (Dr Susan) winners with Temporale, who saluted in the $50,000 V L Dullard Trotters Cup.

He then rounded out his 98-TrotCoin team with McLovin, third in the trotters cup, and Rackemup Tigerpie, sixth in the Casey Classic, to claim the $250 Coles-Myer voucher.

Denny outpaced equal second-placed Nick Roditis and Gary Kuchta by $2000. The pair, along with fourth-placed Chris Taylor ($230,500), were the only four players of the more than 320 Night 2 entrants to include three Group 1 winners in their teams.

It was a day to remember for Aaron Dunn. Not only did he go back-to-back from last year to this year in the Matthews Petroleum Hamilton Pacing Cup, he also trained the quinella, with Forty Love taking the honours and last year’s winner Dee Roe finishing second, driven by Jackie Barker.

While the ink is far from dry on the $500,000 Summer Of Glory bonus cheque, superstar mare Keayang Zahara is on track to provide her connections with a windfall after her effortless win in the Group 1 $100,000 Aldebaran Park Maori Mile.
