Leap To Fame headlines Sportsbet Victoria Cup nominations

Champion Queensland pacer Leap To Fame is the standout entry for this year’s Sportsbet Victoria Cup, heading into the $250,000 feature at Melton on October 18 as the $1.30 favourite.

While his brother Swayzee, trained by Jason Grimson, has been scratched following a minor hiccup after last week’s runner-up finish, Grimson still has two strong chances in Miki Pins and Hi ManameisJeff. Eureka winner Bay Of Biscay is aiming for another feature victory for Emma Stewart, while Kingman and Catch A Wave add further class to the field.

The Victoria Cup will be televised on 7Two following Melbourne and Sydney’s blockbuster race days, the Caulfield Cup and The Everest, giving fans a chance to see a star-studded program of action. The support card features the Group 3 Ladyship Cup, Group 1 Victoria Derby and Oaks Finals, the Shakamaker 2YO Classic, the Bill Collins Trotters Sprint (G1), and the Victoria Trotters Oaks (G1).

Nominations for the Cup were extended until 12:00pm Monday, with original entries given priority for the final field. Acceptances will be taken at 2:00pm Monday, with the barrier draw to follow on Sky Racing at 10:00am Tuesday.
