GOODFORM – Ryan’s tips and Quaddie for Cranbourne Sunday night

Ryan Phelan takes aim at tonight’s 6-race card from Cranbourne harness.

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: GOODTIME CAPTAIN (3) resumes here following a solid 3yo season where he showed nice ability. He hasn’t had much go right in his two runs at this track, he’s trialled well into this and does possess good gate speed to race in a forward position.
IM WESLEY (5) has been in consistent form without winning lately and often races up on speed and will give a great sight, it just depends on how much work he has to do. THE VILLAIN (8) has his first run for Samantha Gangell who’s stable is racing well, and his best has him right in this despite the awkward draw. BINALONG NIGHT (6) is 2 from 2 since joining the new stable, and despite the awkward draw and being up in grade has claims again.

BACK: GOODTIME CAPTAIN (3) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: GOODTIME CAPTAIN (3), IM WESLEY (5), THE VILLIAN (8), BINALONG NIGHT (6)

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: INEXORABLE (8) is a consistent mare who resumes here without a trial but draws softly and strikes a winnable race. She has a very good record at this track and raced well up in grade last preparation to suggest she has the class edge.
MIDNITE DESIRE (1) has early speed and options from the draw. He has a solid SP profile, and although he hasn’t won in a while this presents as a suitable option. LADY IN LINE (4) is also first up from a spell and she raced consistently last time in, often from bad draws. She has a map advantage from the draw. ALPHA CRUCIS (3) was a winner here two back and should race in a handy enough position to give himself a shot.

BACK: INEXORABLE (8) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: INEXORABLE (8), MIDNITE DESIRE (1), LADY IN LINE (4), ALPHA CRUCIS (3)

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: MIKISPUR (1) is worth a play at value here, returning to a suitable grade after running in some fast-run races and back to a track he loves. He flies the gate to take the right cover and if he can get the pocket behind the leader off the right tempo can flash late.
BULLETPROOF KID (4) began like a rocket to win from similar draws recently and if he finds the top will take plenty of running down. PISTOL PEARCE (2) will be another having a shot at the top spot, he was brave last time after working hard early. KISS ME MINI (6) won that race last time out, but he did have a perfect run, and the map looks a little sticky this time.

BACK: MIKISPUR (1) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: MIKISPUR (1), BULLETPROOF KID (4), PISTOL PEARCE (2), KISS ME MINI (6)

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: LIBERTY STAR DUST (5) is trending towards victory based on his past couple, where two back in a decent form race, he ran 3rd when cramped for room at a vital stage and had to sit parked last time. He’s shown good gate speed to potentially lead and be hard to catch.
FORTYHOURS (2) begins well, but is a green 2yo taking on more experienced types, but she’s shown ability and is from an astute stable. ARZALI ROCKSTAR (4) began a little awkwardly sometime but thereafter ran quite well and has been threatening in similar company. ROBUST SALLY (1) failed on debut and then trialled okay back in November, the soft draw helps her to improve.

BACK: LIBERTY STAR DUST (5) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: LIBERTY STAR DUST (5), FORTYHOURS (2), ARZALI ROCKSTAR (4), ROBUST SALLY (1)

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: LILYS TIGER (6) showed plenty of ability in his 3yo campaign, winning twice and placing behind elite company in the Vicbred series. He’ll need a little bit of luck from the draw, but the astute trainer/driver combo adds confidence.
PARIS KAY (1) finds her most suitable race and draw in a long time here. She can show speed from the pole and likely lead these. DOSSIER (5) often races well when dropping to a suitable grade, although her last two runs have been questionable. PROHIBITED GRACE (2) has been racing okay without winning, but a good draw here can see her in the finish.

BACK: LILYS TIGER (6) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: LILYS TIGER (6), PARIS KAY (1), DOSSIER (5), PROHIBITED GRACE (2)

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: SPIRITED LASS (6) is a risky bet it must be said, she can do things wrong at the start and throw away all chance. However, when she does get it right, which she has been doing a little more frequently of late, her sectionals are excellent.
WHATS THE TEA (2) is going for 3 in a row here when he’s sat tough and ground down his opposition. He doesn’t run fast times, but he may not need to win this. RIGHT OF REPLY (3) is a quick beginner who will look to potentially lead these, he has a good record at this track. AGAINST THE BRIDLE (1) has been racing well, although he may get crossed at the start here which hurts his chances slightly.

SELECTIONS: SPIRITED LASS (6), WHATS THE TEA (2), RIGHT OF REPLY (3), AGAINST THE BRIDLE (1)
