1. Eligibility
1.1 To be eligible for the YDF 2YO Classic, a broodmare must be bred to a Yabby Dam Farms registered stallion in the 2026/2027 breeding season in either Australia or New Zealand. The resulting foal will be foaled during the 2027/2028 breeding season.
1.2 To maintain eligibility, a $250.00 plus GST payment for Semen Collection, Storage & Delivery must be paid upon signing the breeding contract during the 2026/2027 breeding season.
2. Race Series
2.1 Two $75,000 finals will take place. One for two-year-old trotting fillies & one for two-year-old trotting colts/geldings.
2.2 Heats or prelude to be conducted for both races for $10,000.
2.3 Finals to be held at Melton Entertainment Park.
2.4 Heat/Final conditions will be subject to HRV’s policy in accordance with Section 8 of its Racing Guidelines.
2.5 Preference for the final will be given to heat/prelude runners; however horses that did not contest the heats/prelude can nominate for the final but will not receive preference over horses that contested heat/prelude starters. Such horses will also draw outside horses that contested the heats/preludes in the final. If remaining positions are available in the final, they will be selected on National Rating in descending order.
2.6 Finals will be conducted even if there are less than 6 nominations per series but potentially it will be run at the midweek meeting at Melton Entertainment Park.
3. Late Entry
3.1 There shall be no provision for Late entry of horses or notification of sustaining in the series unless Yabby Dam Farms determines that the circumstances amount to exceptional.
4. Heats/ Preludes/Final
4.1 Trainers of eligible horses must nominate for the YDF 2YO Classic heats by the prescribed closing time for nominations for the relevant race date.
4.2 The number of acceptors will determine the number of heats.
4.3 Random Barrier draw applies to all races in the series
4.4 Each heat/prelude and final distance will be determined at the discretion of HRV.
4.5 The number of horses contesting each heat shall be limited to a maximum equal to that recommended by HRV \
4.6 Should less than 12 horses accept for the of a particular heat, YDF will instead run the intended heat as a prelude for the YDF Classic final. Prelude runners will still be required to re-nominate should they wish to contest the final.
5. General
5.1 HRV and/or YDF in its sole and absolute discretion may, at any time, waive or modify a requirement of these terms and conditions in a particular instance or instances and may require as a condition of doing so that additional requirements be met.
