Harness Racing Victoria welcomes Victorian Racing Industry Fund support

Harness Racing Victoria has welcomed pledges to extend the Victorian Racing Industry Fund (VRIF) for a further four years, which would commit significant support to building and promoting the three codes.

HRV Chair Bernard Saundry said he was pleased that Victoria’s major parties – Labor and the Liberal-National Coalition – had pledged to continue the crucial support.

“VRIF is such an important vehicle for growth, particularly in harness racing’s venue network, and it is great to see promises to support it long into the future,” Saundry said.

“Harness racing in Victoria has benefitted from about $25 million in support through this fund since 2020, enabling some of our most important projects, including Kilmore, Bendigo and Terang’s stabling, major lighting projects at Bendigo, Cranbourne, Kilmore, Melton and Geelong, and support for Vicbred and other breeding schemes.

“This fund also enables clubs to showcase their communities with Cup-day promotions and race day support, which is a feature of our calendars.”
