OVERVIEW: No matter which angle you try to approach this year’s ID Trotting Championship from it’s almost impossible to ignore the fact that TORNADO VALLEY (6) looks a head a and shoulders above everything else in virtually every way. That’s not to say tonight’s assignment will represent a picnic because it won’t. With several quick beginners drawn inside of him and all of them wanting to secure a role as close to the favourite in transit TORNADO VALLEY (6) may be forced to work hard through the formative 600m but if he finds the front as seems almost assured it’s tough to find a way that he won’t just snare top points. If things become totally ballistic in in the opening lap tonight then the two clear and present dangers are uniquely gifted but seriously mercurial stayer TOUGH MONARCH (2) and dynamite sit-sprinter KYVALLEY BLUR (11) despite his nightmare gate. Beyond the at pair it’s very tough to see anything else prevailing though the jungle drums are beating around Tim Butt’s Group 1 winnign Kiwi recruit WILMAS MATE (1) who should have the speed to trial the fave in transit if she stays in gait at the start. Other minor winning hopes who are must-considers in all multiple investments include SKY PETITE (5), BIG JACK HAMMER (8), SAVE OUR PENNYS (3) and KOWHAI MONARCH (9) though such is the evenness of this event outside the hot-pot that finding a role for everything in Trifectas and First Fours is well worth trying to do.
