Race 6 - TAB INTER DOMINION PACING CHAMPIONSHIP (1ST ROUND QUALIFYING HEAT 2) (GROUP 3)

OVERVIEW: The second heat of this year’s Inter Dominion Pacing Championship looked pretty cut and dried once barrier draws were undertaken on Monday afternoon with FRANCO NELSON (2) appearing almost certain to lead and win with MACH DORO (1) beautifully positioned in trailing role and the star Victorians SAN CARLO (10) and SHADOEW SAX (12) both looking to have their backs against the wall from horror car park alleys. That was until the race was inspected on a slightly deeper level. Only then did we expose the possibility that FRANCO NELSON (2) may be a mite underdone at his first run for five weeks and if he is aggressive tactics on the two Victorian heroes may upset the apple cart. It’s fair to say that the first 400m will be crucial for both SAN CARLO (10) and SHADOW SAX (12) because whichever can whip around to find the death seat first will be in the prime position to test the leader out. Due to his faultless preparation and slightly better alley SAN CARLO (10) narrowly gets the nod though SHADOW SAX (12) is far from out of the running and there’s still a massive chance that FRANCO NELSON (2) gets the coin. The only other serious winnign proposition is MACH DORO (1) who’ll never get a better chance to claim an ID heat than this while ELLMERS IMAGE (3) head a host of runners who’ll be desperate for a top-half finish along with VILLAGE WITCH (8), CANT REFUSE (11) and GALACTIC STAR (4).
