OVERVIEW:As seems the case with so many open-age Group 1 features right now, the 2019 Ballarat Pacing Cup has brought together an outstanding field with multiple serious winning chances where what happens early will have a seminal bearing upon the result. The three key runners drawn the front row from a mapping perspective and it turn the three key hopes engaged are All Star duo THEFIXER (3) and CRUZ BROMAC (6) along with flying former Kiwi commodity BUSTER BRADY (5). The fact two Purdon-trained horses have drawn the front row makes it much more likely that one of the pair will prevail and in the majority of potential scenarios it seems CRUZ BROMAC (6) will probably find the front even though many won’t see it that way. In terms of ability little separates CRUZ BROMAC (6) and THEFIXER (3) but given how fit he’ll be on the back of ID18 CRUZ BROMAC (6) narrowly gets the nod over his NZ Cup-winning stablemate while BUSTER BRADY (5) can also win but only if Kima can begin quickly enough to find the front which isn’t outside the realms of possibility. If the big three off the front go hog-wild in the early stages then ID Runner-up OUR UNCLE SAM (10) will be storming home but so too will OUR TRIPLE PLAY (2) who is in career best form and who has beaten OUR UNCLE SAM (10) home in both the Shirley Turnbull Memorial and the Shepparton Cup.
