A hotly contested cup, winners of the Charlton Pacing Cup have been setting blistering times, but interestingly it was Cant Refuse NZ driven by Matthew Craven who set the cup record in 2019 running 1:56.4 over 2760m, beating all previous records that have run over 2570m. The Charlton Trotting Cup is also one that excites, with the 2 minute milestone yet to be broken in the cup. However, Kate Gath has come close on two occasions with McLovin NZ, in 2019 running a flat 2:00 and 2021 running 2:00.8.
