OVERVIEW: ROBERT JOHN (5) was resuming since July when he finished off well for a close second behind Massif Central at Maryborough. He won twice in succession towards the end of his last campaign and he should prove hard to beat again. MATISOFF (6) settled in the second half of the field and came out three horses wide from the 800m when he sustained the run to finish a creditable third behind Dance Fighter at Maryborough last week. A repeat performance will see him going close to winning here. ITGETSBETTER (1) did all of the work in the run and proved to be too strong at Mount Gambier last outing. This is a race of more depth but he is drawn to go well again. MAORIS RETURN (4) ran a game race for second at Horsham when resuming then couldn’t work into the race from a poor draw at Maryborough. He should be reaching his peak form after having two runs back from a spell and is not without a chance.
