Humbletonian day 2020 will take place at Maryborough on Monday October 12.

As is always the case at this meeting, #Humbo2020 will feature only Vicbred eligible horses who have never won a race.

Every horse that breaks its maiden on the day, which will of course be every winner that day, will receive a stack of bonuses on top of the elevated $10,000 per race prizemoney for the card.

With all #Humbo2020 horses paid up for Harness Racing Victoria’s (HRV) industry leading Vicbred program, First Win bonuses and breeding bonuses of over $50,000 will be won across the program with every winner to pick up a $7000 cash bonus (for two, three and four-year-olds) or a $3500 bonus (for five-year-olds and over).

HRV, HBV and the Maryborough Club have combined to give a $1000 bonus to the winning breeder of each pacing race, while HRV, HBV and the Victorian Square Trotters Association have teamed to contribute a $1000 winning breeders’ bonus for the trotting races.

The VSTA will also donate a winning trophy for each of the trotting races. The Maryborough club will donate a winning framed photo for each winner on the day.

“Humbletonian is in many ways the opposite of the big meetings that usually grab the headlines in that the horses here haven’t won a race, so they may not currently be the stars, but in our eyes this one’s incredibly important for the industry,” HBV President Nick Hooper said.

“These horses may not be racing for Group 1 glory today, however their breeders invested in Vicbred, the owners have paid up to Vicbred to support the local industry and this is the industry giving them something back, saying ‘thank you’ by providing enhanced prizemoney and bonuses.

“I wish all the trainers, owners and breeders competing at #Humbo2020 the very best of luck.”

In further good news for the Vicbred program, HRV announces 36 Vicbred Platinum Maiden races worth $10,000 each (24 for pacers and 12 for trotters) will be conducted from next year.

“We warmly welcome this initiative from HRV with Vicbred Platinum horses able to compete in these 36 $10,000 maiden races,” Hooper said.

“This means more stakemoney for connections of those horses that have supported the local breeding industry.”

The announcement follows news earlier this month from HRV that Vicbred First Win Bonuses would be significantly enhanced starting with the 2021 foal crop (meaning mares served this year).
