Many of the brightest young pacing prospects in the country will strut their stuff at Kialla Raceway, Shepparton tomorrow night in six qualifying heats of the rich Vicbred Super Series.

The eight-race card features three qualifiers worth $10,000 each in the Captain Crunch series for two-year-old colts and geldings and three $10,000 heats in the Art Major series for two-year-old fillies.

The first eight finishers in each will progress to the $20,000 semi-finals at Tabcorp Park Melton on December 23. The $130,000 finals will be held at Melton on New Year’s Eve.

The opening heat for the boys will be one of the highlights of the night. The Emma Stewart-trained pair of The Lost Storm and Techys Watching, who finished third and fourth respectively in the $300,000 Breeders Crown Final, are pitted against the brilliant, unbeaten Riverina youngster Blazing Home.

Little Louie, a Breeders Crown heat winner and fifth place-getter in the final, is also engaged in the first clash.

The Tasmanian Golden Slipper winner Rock Artist, another from the Stewart barn, looks to have a mortgage on the second qualifying heat. Dougs Platter and Blake Bolac, who ran third and fourth respectively in last Friday’s Victoria Youthful Stakes, loom as the most likely dangers.

Perfect Class, a runner-up in the Breeders Crown final, is expected to go one better in the third heat. The main opposition is expected to come from his stablemates Our Vinnie, winner of the Crown Silver Pace, and Don Hugo.

The all-conquering Stewart barn looks to hold all the aces in the three qualifying heats for the fillies.

In the first heat, Spring Blue, who finished fourth in the Breeders Crown, is expected to be the one to beat, with stablemate Sweet Bella, an impressive winner at Maryborough’s Humbletonian meeting, looming as her main threat.

Country Rockstar, a winner of three of her five starts, and the Vicbred Platinum Home Grown Classsic victor Clives Girl are also likely to make their presence felt.

Ladies In Red’s half-sister Perfect In Pink, second in the Edgar Tatlow and third in the Breeders Crown, will launch her Vicbred assault from gate two in the second heat and thus has been installed a short-priced favourite.

Joyful (gate four) and Soho Seraphine (gate six), who ran one-two in the Youthful Stakes last Friday, look to have the final heat to themselves.

Two of the most interesting runners in this race are Tiffs Little Sister and the debutante Tequila Delight, with them being siblings to former Vicbred champions Our Princess Tiffany and Petacular respectively.
