Abandoned Warragul Pacing Cup to be re-run in June

Harness Racing Victoria has confirmed it will re-stage the 2024 Warragul Pacing Cup.

The race was abandoned during the final lap on Sunday due to a fallen horse and plans to run the feature again were quickly finalised this morning.

It will be scheduled at the club’s next meeting on Monday, June 10.

“Being on the King’s Birthday public holiday allows the club to promote the race again to the local community,” HRV’s Head of Racing Greg Gangle said.

“It will be programmed as a new race open to nominations, with preference in field selection given to horses that contested the heats run for the original series, based on finishing position/mile rate.

“There will be no NR restriction applicable, allowing horses to contest other races without compromising eligibility.”

The race purse of $17,500 will remain as previously advertised.
