Bonnington’s $200 Victoria Cup night game plan

Jason Bonnington has spent hours upon hours sifting through the form and has delivered his highly-anticipated $200 game plan for Saturday night’s blockbuster Victoria Cup meeting at Tabcorp Park Melton.

THE WIN MULTI ($40)

CAPTAIN RAVISHING (R6 N10) & QUEEN ELIDA (R7 N10)

It’s not often the two best bets on a feature programme are drawn gate 10, but rules were made to be broken. Captain Ravishing is so outrageously good he can win the Derby a myriad of ways and Queen Elida is a potential freak who should benefit from plenty of early pace in the Bill Collins Sprint. By playing this multi we can spready the net a little further – at least in the Bill Collins – when collating our quaddie combos for the night.

BEST VALUE ($15 each-way)

PETILLANTE (R9 N3)

Despite being the benchmark runner in tonight’s Pryde’s EasiFeed Victoria Oaks Final, Encipher seems far shorter than is reasonable given the Group 1 contest’s obviously open nature. Several runners are in the mix to lead tonight’s final top-flight feature but none are more likely to assume control than Petillante. If she’s bowling along under her own steam she’s much a better chance than her $8.50 quote would indicate.

BEST TRIFECTA – RACE 4

1, 4 / 1, 2, 4, 6 / 1, 2, 4, 6 ($30 gets 250%)

There’s some risk playing this way in The Holmfield but Harry Stamper or Plymouth Chubb should win and if Courage Stride finishes second or third we should record a profit.

THE EARLY QUADDIE ($50 Flexi for 69.44%)

RACES 1-4: 3, 6, 9, 10, 12, 13 / 3, 8, 13 / 7, 9 / 1, 4

The big opportunity to land some value through tonight’s early quad avails itself in race one. If we can land a double-figure winner there, or Tough Tilly can conquer Ladies In Red for the third time in their epic rivalry, things are looking good. If we get both then this $200 game plan might be taken care of before 7.40pm.

THE QUADDIE ($50 Flexi for 69.44%)

RACES 5-8: 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11 / 10 / 4, 6, 10 / 1, 2, 4, 5

Much like the early quad, the most open leg of tonight’s main quad is the first. With $100,000 added to a projected pool of $500,000 we’ll only need to nail this quad – any which way – and we’ll make some coin. There’s certainly plenty of pressure on Captain Ravishing right across this game plan but he is something special and he won’t let us down.
