Early start scheduled for Sunday’s Birchip meeting

Start times for Sunday’s highly-anticipated Birchip races have been brought forward due to the forecast temperatures in the region.

The Bureau of Meteorology is tipping a maximum of 40 degrees, prompting Harness Racing Victoria to start the meeting in the morning.

The seven-race card is now scheduled to commence at 10.55am, with the last set down for 1.50pm.

HRV will continue to monitor forecasts and fire danger ratings across the state, and advice from the Victorian Government and agencies such as the Country Fire Authority and Vic Emergencies, before making any further determinations on meetings across the long weekend period.
