There was quality aplenty at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday night and as a result Blackbookers have surfaced from the Monday Metrospctive on SEN Track's TrotsLife.

Co-hosts Jason Bonnington and Nikkita Ross found eight horses to follow out of a massive 12-race program at Victorian harness headquarters, agreeing on four of them.

R1 N12 Nephew of Sonoko

NR: He was outrageously good. He made the move as the tempo quickened and to run a 28.1-second quarter and to still be there battling out the finish, beaten a head, was everything you wanted to see to follow him next start.

JB: Wasn’t involved in early burn but made a searching run 1200 metres out and never stopped giving all the way to wire. Amazing effort. Run of the race and one of the runs of the night

R2 N8 Hide and Seek

JB: He’s a work in progress and seemed to lose his way through the third split more through immaturity than tiredness, then he hit the line like a horse well worth following

R6 N4 Yankee Gold

NR: Was travelling too well when he struck trouble on the bend. Did well to stay on his feet and go over the line in fourth but was relegated. After being luckless his previous start his figure form line won’t look great but he is going better than that.

R7 N10 Bulletproof Boy

NR: This guy lives in the Blackbook. It was mission impossible with no tempo in the race but he was as brave as ever to make good ground from the back and finish a brave second.

JB: Amazing sprinter that somehow made up 12 metres in 27.4-second closing half. On level terms he beats this field more often than he doesn’t under these conditions.

R8 N2 Travel Bug

NR: Led up the one wide line for the last 1000m over the long trip. He chased home a couple of pretty talented horses on the pegs ahead of him and he finished right there with them. He didn’t have much luck last time, so I think he could be really getting back into some form so he sneaks into the Blackbook.

R9 N11 District Attorney

NR: Brilliant effort from a bad draw. He was a long way off Catch A Wave and made significant ground late. He put the writing on the wall in the heat when unlucky and is no doubt a horse to follow in the future.

JB: Final quarter was slowest of race so he may have been marginally flattered but still made up 20-odd metres on an utter freak show in the final 500m and is showing serious potential.

R11 N3 Aldebaran Miley

NR: Lightly raced and still learning what it is all about, she unfortunately cost herself galloping at the start but there was plenty to like after that as she caught them and motored home trotting her last half in 58.3.

JB: Massive, extraordinary run from this emerging talent. On face value, she’s clearly the most exciting filly going forward from this event.

Hes Under Wraps

JB: You wouldn’t follow this bloke into battle, but he’s been remarkably brave here given all the mid-race pressure and will be winning similar contest sooner rather than later
