Bronte Nieuwenburg has outlined her selections and suggested game plan for Thursday's eight-race card at Ballarat.

R1 – 6.00pm – Ballarattrottingclub.com.au Pace – 1710m

12 – Jazzy Melea

2 – Major Crunch

11 – Browniesatmidnight

4 – Startin To Gogh

R2 – 6.34pm – Golden Point Football Club "Billie's Legends" Trot – 2200m

11 – Cochy Malc

9 – Im Lady Rhonda

1 – Hes Themightyspin

4 – Countess Chiron

Cochy Malc is a trotter previously trained by Riley Butt in Queensland. He steps out tonight for the first time under the care of Andy Gath. Sectionally, his Queensland times are on par with or slightly better than this field, and I think we’re likely to see significant improvement with the change in scenery.

BACK: 11 Cochy Malc – 2 Units (win) / 2 Unit (place)

R3 – 7.05pm – National Tiles Pace – 2200m

8 – Neon Tiger

9 – Royal Saxon

2 – Nothing Sweeter

1 – Feelingoodfreddie

R4 – 7.36pm – Trevor Petrie Real Estate Pace – 2200m

7 – Snazola

8 – Etix Amodel

9 – Johnny Redcoat

11 – Home And Dry

R5 – 8.06pm – The Muller's Coodabeens Pace – 1710m

3 – Tophut Johny

9 – My Darling Dancer

8 – Breathe Easy

7 – Bettes Blue Violet

Over the short trip, this race looks to map well for Tophut Johny. He should be able to find the front from barrier three. I’ve marked Breathe Easy and My Darling Dancer as his main rivals, but it may be too hard for them to catch Tophut Johny if he gets an easy run at the top end.

BACK: 3 Tophut Johny – 2.5 Units (win)

R6 – 8.36pm – The Park Bistro Pub Boys 3yo Maiden Pace – 2200m

5 – Hykeepmeposted

3 – Segui Le Stella

6 – Are Weasley

7 – Midnight Crimes

R7 – 9.06pm – Ballarat Sportsmans Association Trot – 2200m

7 – Mont Sally

5 – Oopzee Daizee

6 – Noble Count

2 – Floating Mountain

On exposed form, Mont Sally goes into this race with the best sectional times. She’s been very consistent, not finishing worse than fifth since July last year. She may need to be saved for one late run and rely on a bit of luck, but she has the ability to take this out.

BACK: 7 Mont Sally – 2 Units (win)

R8 – 9.35pm – Woodlands Stud Trot – 2200m

5 – Nellie Joy

6 – Trouville Sur Mer

4 – Love Who

8 – Ridethelightning

This race is a case of strong exposed current form versus a first starter with winning trial form from a strong stable. I’m sticking with the exposed form of Nellie Joy over Trouville Sur Mer. Nellie Joy is full of confidence and, drawn to the inside of the first starter, is likely to get the better run.

BACK: 5 Nellie Joy – 1.5 Units (win)

** A betting unit is typically a percentage of the total bankroll or the amount of money you are willing to risk on a particular be
