Craig Rail has done the form for the Noel Smith Memorial program at Horsham on Monday

Race 1:
OVERVIEW: FORTY LOVE (5) was heavily supported and ran a great race after working forward to find the lead in the early stages when a narrow second behind Fighter Command at Melton last week. He had no luck when sixth in the Super Series Final prior and he should prove very hard to beat under these conditions. OPERATIVE LINE (6) will also appreciate a drop back in class from his efforts at Metropolitan free for all level and should improve on his numerical form. He won the Stampede at Melton back in May. HOT DEAL (7) settled down last in a slowly run race and tried to sustain a long run out wide on the track when a game third behind My Ultimate Jimmy at Mildura on Wednesday. He is a versatile pacer and should run his usual honest race. RUFF NUT (2) and MADRIGAL (3) are both racing well enough to be worth thought in multiple combinations.

BACK: FORTY LOVE (5) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: FORTY LOVE (5), OPERATIVE LINE (6), HOT DEAL (7), MADRIGAL (3)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: TAURAS (6) was resuming since July when he was without cover early, got in behind the leader at the 1300m and tried hard for a distant second behind Gaelic Lady at Terang. He should benefit from that performance and he was going nicely at the trials prior so he is capable of going one better. COLLEAGUES (5) has been placed in both of his efforts since coming from Queensland. He gained a nice trail and was going to run a clear second before breaking stride at the 150m at his latest Charlton third and he will prove hard to beat if he delivers a fool proof display. VIXAN (4) competed in a couple of Super Series events against much stronger opposition prior to a sixth at Terang, where she made several errors. She is better than her form reads and is a possible improver. DRESSEDUPINTHECITY (1) was caught without cover early, restrained to be fifth on the markers and battled on fairly well for fourth last outing. She is a maiden from 51 starts but she could fill a place from the pole position.
SELECTIONS: TAURAS (6), COLLEAGUES (5), VIXAN (4), DRESSEDUPINTHECITY (1)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: KEAYANG HUSTLER (7) backed up several smart trial performances with a big victory over Dispersion at Terang, where he pushed forward to find the lead and completely dominated his rivals in handy time. He is widely drawn but appears to have a promising future and should prove hard to beat again. BAD GRANDMA (2) is a debutante for trainer Andy Gath, which scored nicely at a Melton trial on Tuesday afternoon. She is related to three winners and showed enough ability at her latest trial to warrant consideration. LOUS MAMBO (4) is a juvenile gelding that hasn’t raced since a victory in a fast mile of 1.56.5 at Charlton in May. He hasn’t been to the trials but will give a forward showing if he is somewhere near his peak form. BRIDWOOD MAISEY (9) was safely held at a recent Melton trial performance but she did make it through to the Breeders Crown Final last season so she cannot be left out of calculations.
SELECTIONS: KEAYANG HUSTLER (7), BAD GRANDMA (2), LOUS MAMBO (4), BRIDWOOD MAISEY (9)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: SKADI (3) began quickly to find the lead and was able to score comfortably when resuming at Swan Hill. She is a good chance of finding the lead again here and she did well after parking on the outside of the leader throughout at her latest third so she is capable of returning to winning form. MISSMALACHITE (6) progressed forward from a similar wide draw to race without cover when a brave second behind Doctor Go Joh at Terang on Monday night. This race is no harder and she should give another bold showing. DANCIN WITH ELVIS (1) finished a close up fourth in the race won by Doctor Go Joh and should receive every chance from the pole position. He has had a few chances since his latest victory but he is not without a winning hope under these conditions. ESPERANZA (4) led out then took cover and used the sprint lane when a close second behind Major Lincoln at Stawell. He won at Kilmore three starts ago and is one of the leading chances again.

BACK: SKADI (3) – 1 unit (each way)
SELECTIONS: SKADI (3), MISSMALACHITE (6), DANCIN WITH ELVIS (1), ESPERANZA (4)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: CONNIES PRESIDENT (8) galloped away from the standing start and lost his chance at Charlton last outing but he was a runaway winner over BETSY ANNE (1) prior and he is drawn to gain an economical trip. BETSY ANNE (1) led out then took cover when third behind Money Talks at Kilmore last outing. She is a fast beginner and performs best over the sprint distance so she has the conditions to suit. I AM SKYE CHIOLA (10) competed against stronger opposition in a Super Series event last outing and finished midfield. She is a tough type and scored at Ballarat on August 26 so she is worth an investment. LOVE WHO (4) finished quickly via the sprint lane when a game second behind Rastamon at Maryborough last outing. He is racing well and looms as one of the leading chances again.
SELECTIONS: CONNIES PRESIDENT (8), BETSY ANNE (1), I AM SKYE CHIOLA (10), LOVE WHO (4)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: YANKEE RAIN (6) was heavily supported and shot to the lead shortly after the start when she led throughout at Terang last week. That was her best performance of the season and a repeat effort will see her go close to winning again. TORQUE IN HEAVEN (9) was very wide on the home turn and finished off fast for second behind YANKEE RAIN (6) at Terang. He won at his two attempts prior and is capable of turning the tables with normal luck in running. MONSIEUR FLAMEL (7) is a fast beginner and should be competitive from the wide draw. He commenced from the inside of the second line, was shuffled back on the markers and stormed home late when an unlucky second behind Foregone Conclusion at Kilmore last time out. MEGAWATTS (5) came from a rearward position when second behind Krissy in fast time at Shepparton last outing and is racing well enough to figure in the finish.
SELECTIONS: YANKEE RAIN (6), TORQUE IN HEAVEN (9), MONSIEUR FLAMEL (7), MEGAWATTS (5)
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: JILLIBY SNIPER (4) had little luck from poor barrier draws during the Super Series then followed with a big win at Terang, where he outstayed the handy performer Heavenly Gem. He is building up a handy strike rate and should prove hard to beat again. POSTERIZED (3) has been able to lead throughout in two recent victories and is drawn to lead again so he must be respected. He dashed home in a slick final half of 56.8 seconds when he held off Blazin By at his latest victory. GOLD IN PARIS (9) won three races in succession prior to a second behind King Kasey in fast time at Stawell, where she parked on the outside of the leader throughout. She is racing in career best form and is one of the leading chances again. CALF PEN (1) faces a steep rise in class but he has returned to his peak form and has leading reinsman James Herbertson aboard so he cannot be dismissed.

BACK: JILLIBY SNIPER (4) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: JILLIBY SNIPER (4), POSTERIZED (3), GOLD IN PARIS (9), CALF PEN (1)
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: FROSTY DROP (4) attempted to lead throughout and was gunned down on the line when second behind Yankee Mojoh in a slick mile rate of 1.54.1 at Melton last outing. She is a good chance of finding the lead again and is capable of going one better. JILLIBY ZUCCHINI (11) was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off strongly for an unlucky second at Terang when resuming since December 2024. She would have benefited from the experience and looms as one of the leading chances. MAJOR ROY (9) raced without cover throughout in fast time when a brave second behind Themidnightexpress last outing. He hasn’t had much luck in three starts since resuming and he should be competitive again. FOREGONE CONCLUSION (7) has won five of his past seven starts and was able to find the lead from a similar wide draw at his latest victory. This is a race of more depth but he is worth thought again.
SELECTIONS: FROSTY DROP (4), JILLIBY ZUCCHINI (11), MAJOR ROY (9), FOREGONE CONCLUSION (7)
Race 9:
OVERVIEW: DISPERSION (1) was held up for a run at a vital stage and stormed home for an eye-catching third behind Baystyle at Melton when on debut then chased hard for second behind Keayang Hustler last outing. He is a promising maiden and is ideally drawn so he must be considered as a winning chance. LAMBRO LOUELLA (3) finished fast from midfield when a big second in the Ladyship Stakes at Globe Derby. She delivered a top run last outing and should be competitive again. MYDEEPESTDESIRE (7) raced on the outside of the leader throughout and went down fighting when a brave second behind Like A Gazelle on debut. She should have derived benefit from the experience and is worth thought again. EZEE FORTITUDE (8) is a first starter for trainer Andy Gath, which finished off in a slick final quarter of 28.1 seconds to win a trial at Melton recently so she cannot be left out of calculations.

BACK: DISPERSION (1) – 1.5 units (each way)
SELECTIONS: DISPERSION (1), LAMBRO LOUELLA (3), MYDEEPESTDESIRE (7), EZEE FORTITUDE (8)
