Ryan Phelan's tips,10-unit strategy and Quaddie for Tuesday night at Shepparton.
R1 – 6:12pm – Shepparton Training Complex Support Pony Trots 0-1 LTW Pace - 1690m
10 – Alabama Ice
2 – Eagle Major
3 – Hesaa Lister
5 – G B Brave
Alabama Ice is first up since July here as a lightly raced 6yo. His win back in May he beat a horse called The Iron Duke who has been very good since and, on that occasion, he ran good time. He’s had the benefit of two trials here and looked pretty good in his most recent. Will need speed on from the draw but look for him late.
BACK: 10 Alabama Ice – 2 Units (win)
R2 – 6:37pm – Alabar Bloodstock Pace – 1690m
3 – Cresco Threepeat
6 – Angelshavtime
4 – Honest Harriette
1 – Our Cheeky Devil
R3 – 7:14pm – Hunter Rural 3yo & Older Maiden Trot – 2190m
10 – Peggy Vale
4 – Promise Dream
3 – Sky Lindy
8 – Madge Egan
Peggy Vale was unruly at the start last week at her second career run, following a terrific debut when forced to sit parked and was narrowly beaten. I’m prepared to forgive her for that on what I’ve seen to date, and this doesn’t appear to be an overly strong race, despite being off the back row.
BACK: 10 Peggy Vale – 2 Units (win)
R4 – 7:4pm – Neatline Homes Pace – 2190m
9 – Bet Sheza Lady
2 – John Vincent
11 – Animado
10 – Regal Rock
R5 – 8:22pm – Jam Packed Coffee & Donuts Pace – 2190m
3 – Tophut Johny
7 – Tex Goes Bang
1 – Beryls Grin
8 – Blue Ocean
Tophut Johny has been consistent throughout most of this season, only managing the one victory, but has been runner up on ten occasions! I think the key here is the good front row draw plus the distance favours to potentially find the front. I think he can bookend the year with victories.
BACK: 3 Tophut Johny – 4 Units (win)
R6 – 8:56pm – Avenel Equine Hospital 3yo & Older Maiden Pace – 1690m
9 – Rocknlena
7 – Bear Hunta
5 – Broadway Brenda
11 – Tap To Pay
Rocknlena is a first starter for trainer Brooke McPherson off four trials in preparation for this. Her most recent trial at Wagga she found the lead and did switch on and off throughout, but when asked to knuckle down, she did. I like the engagement of James Herbertson to light her up.
BACK: 9 Rocknlena – 2 Units (win)
R7 – 9:30pm – Saddleworld Shepparton Trot – 2190m
8 – Dossier
3 – Abbie
1 – Settle The Bill
5 – Majestic Ga Ga
R8 – 10:04pm – (A.H) Pete Rathjen Memorial Pace (1st ht.) – 2190m
3 – Katunga Express
4 – On The Hunt
1 – Nomorelying
7 – Can Feel The Fury
R9 – 10:38pm – Cottrells Electrical Trot – 1690m
3 – Ox Knox

** A betting unit is typically a percentage of the total bankroll or the amount of money you are willing to risk on a particular bet – for example 1 unit is 10% of your bankroll, therefore with a $100 bankroll 1 unit equals $10.
